17. Propiedades electrónicas de nitruros
III-V
17. Electronic properties of III-V nitrides
The electronic properties of (001) AlN/GaN quantum
wells have been studied. Because of the uncertainty in
the data for these materials two different tight-binding
models have been used, in order to see the influence of
different parameter sets on the system properties. The
effects due to the stress have been also studied. The
same physical picture was found for both models, in
spite of numerical differences in the results. Quantum
wells ranging from 2 to 50 GaN monolayers were analyzed.
It was found that these systems have more states
than the AlAs/GaAs quantum wells. It was also found
that they present well defined conduction states for
lower well thicknesses.
18. Propiedades vibracionales de sistemas
cuasirregulares
18. Vibrational properties of quasiregular
systems
The vibrational properties, frequencies and atom displacements,
of hybrid systems formed by the combination
of periodic and quasiregular blocks (based on the
Fibonacci sequence) have been studied. It has been
found that the hybrid systems have frequency spectra
showing important differences with respect to those of
the systems forming the whole structure. Reductions
and partial closing of gaps have been found. It has been
observed a selective confinement of the atom displacements
in only one of the parts forming the whole structure
for different frequency ranges. This feature could
be used in wave-guiding.
19. Transporte asistido por fotones en
nanoestructuras semiconductoras
19. Photon-assisted transport in semiconductor
nanostructures
In this review we focus on electronic transport through
semiconductor nanostructures which are driven by ac
fields. Along the review we describe the available experimental
information on different nanostructures, like
resonant tunneling diodes superlattices or quantum
dots, together with different theoretical techniques
used in the study of photon-assisted transport. These
theoretical tools such as, for instance, the Floquet formalism,
the nonequilibrium Green function technique
or the density matrix technique, are suitable for tackling
with problems where the interplay of different
aspects like nonequilibrium, nonlinearity, quantum
confinement or electron-electron interactions gives rise
to many intriguing new phenomena. Along the review
we give many examples which demonstrate the possibility
of using appropiate ac fields to control/manipulate
coherent quantum states in semiconductor nanostructures.
