<strong>Paulo</strong> <strong>Leal</strong> <strong>Ferreira</strong> was the First Brazilian<br />
Scientific Director of IFT, in 1961, after the<br />
period of Japanese direction.<br />
From 1961, the coordination of research<br />
was done by Brazilians directors, with the<br />
help of several short and long period<br />
visitors, invited to give lectures and<br />
graduate courses, or to specifically<br />
collaborate in some research of interest to<br />
members of the institution.<br />
