The second Plan Maroc Vert
launched by Rabat two years
ago did not fulfil the expectations
and the European investors
did not work in the business
of the Government of
Morocco.
Rabat admits in the base
document that “agriculture is
an axis of basic growth for the
economy of the country, the
commercial balance and the
creation of employment”, but
the objectives of the second
Plan are not in the right way.
This project tries to reach a
growth of 40 per cent of the
surface in olive trees, a 52 per
cent of citruses and 76 per cent
of fruits and vegetables until
the year 2020.
Now there is a hope for the
Plan of Mohamed VI SAW
from the petrodollars. And it
is that a group of 28 Arab companies
will invest 500 million
dollars in the development of
North Africa and also Morocco.
The minister of Commerce
of Egypt, Rachid Mohamed Rachid
affirmed that the investment
comes from companies
of Saudi Arabia, EAU, Kuwait,
Qatar, Bahrein, Syria and
Egypt.
Morocco is developing the
exports of fresh fruits and vegetables
in the destinations of
the Persian Gulf with 61,728
tons during the campaign
2009-2010 and with an increasing
tendency.
Less interest
Morocco is interesting no
more for the European fruits
and vegetables companies, since
