Emergency Survival Guide Available Online
the los angeles county office of emergency Management has
published a guide to emergency preparedness intended to help
the residents of the los angeles county unincorporated areas
better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. the
county’s emergency survival guide is now available online

exciting developments on the Resource
center have taken place within the last
year! Preliminary designs have been
drawn for the new community center
that will be located on telegraph Road at
Valley View avenue, the former sheriff’s
Department training field (staRs center).
the center will be approximately 19,000
square feet and will provide multi-purpose
recreational spaces for all ages, as well as
family and youth services provided through
Helpline youth counseling.
several community meetings were held
to obtain input from residents on the type
of facility and programs best suited for the
Whittier unincorporated area. Drawing concepts,
resulting from this feedback, were presented to
the community for this new state of the art facility.
construction is set to begin in early 2013 with a
completion date of 2014. the board of supervisors
has committed funding for this project.
this project is being designed by HMc architects,
and managed by the community Development
commission of the county of los angeles. for
