Redistricting Results in Changes to
the Whittier Unincorporated County
Boundary Lines www.redistricting.lacounty.gov
What is Redistricting?
every ten years, the united states census bureau attempts to count
every person in the country. after the latest census, the population
of los angeles county was divided as evenly as possible into five
supervisorial districts for the board of supervisors.
How was Redistricting Completed?
a community meeting was held at the community Resource center
on april 26, 2011, where the Whittier unincorporated community
had an opportunity to provide input on the proposed redistricting
plan. several plans were considered and the board selected
one plan by a 4-1 vote. the boundary lines were redrawn and
the majority of the Whittier unincorporated area and the city
of santa fe springs are now within the fourth supervisorial
District. (See map on page 18)
Military Banner Program
to honor the dedicated service of Whittier unincorporated
residents proudly serving in the united states armed
forces, the board office displays recognition banners on
utility poles along major streets in the community.
Residents of the Whittier unincorporated community,
who are on active duty, are eligible to participate in
the program and receive a banner. for more information
