document deals principally with Nueva Vizcaya and Coahuila. Croix refers to past and
present methods of fighting the Indians and the need for a new system. He proposes a
new line of frontier presidios, supported by lines of pueblos, a reduction in the number
of cavalry horses, and a practice of keeping them safely in stables, rather than leaving
