Amaryllidaceae Manfreda brachystachya (Cav.) Rose Hierba iterópara, anual y monoica, con un bulbo subterráneo del cual salen numerosas hojas ascendentes. HOJAS: Lineales en roseta basal y glabras. FLOR: Las flores son sésiles, solitarias y dispuestas en espigas en un escapo muy alargado el cual puede llegar hasta dos metros de altura. Los estambres en la flor son muy prominentes. FRUTO: Cápsula oblonga con numerosas semillas. FENOLOGÍA: Florece de julio a septiembre y la fructificación va de septiembre a noviembre. ASPECTOS ECOLÓGICOS: Es una planta polinizada por colibriés. USOS: El bulbo se llama amole y se utiliza como jabón. 19
