The Revista d’Arqueologia de Ponent (RAP) is an
annual publication of the Archaeology, Prehistory
and Ancient History Unit of the University of Lleida
History Department. It is published through a cooperation
agreement with the Lleida City Council and
the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs Public Foundation.
The journal mainly publishes reports on the prehistory,
archaeology and ancient history of the Iberian
Peninsula and its links to Europe and the Mediterranean
in the theoretical and methodological fields, as
well as presenting excavation results, summaries and
critical studies. The content is divided into different
sections: Studies, Documents, Dossier/Discussion, Scientific
Reports and Reviews. All the articles received
are evaluated externally (peer review).
Studies: articles of reflection or synthesis and comprehensive
presentations. They will have a maximum
length of 40 pages (10.000 characters), including notes,
illustrations and bibliography.
Documents: news, advances in research, specific studies.
They will have a maximum length of 20 pages
(5.000 characters) including notes, illustrations and
bibliography.
Dossier / Discussion: this section is for the presentation
of a specific subject by a group of authors or
for an open discussion of a topic of current scientific
or professional interest. Each dossier or discussion
must always have a scientific editor responsible for
the section.
Scientific Report: an annual account of the archaeological
and palaeontological interventions in the
province of Lleida, the report from the University of
Lleida Archaeological Conservation and Restoration
Laboratory, brief archaeological news, reports on
meetings and congresses.
Reviews: the journal accepts for publication books
whose authors wish them to be revised. Two copies
should be sent, one for the author of the recension
and one for the University of Lleida Library. If the
author wishes to formulate replies, he or she can
request this of the Board of Editors.
The language of the journal is Catalan and articles are
accepted in all the official languages of Spain, as well
as English, Italian, French, German and Portuguese.
Submission and presentation of originals
These will be sent to the journal’s address: Revista
d’Arqueologia de Ponent, Unitat d’Arqueologia, Prehistòria
Antiga, Universitat de Lleida, Pl. Víctor Siurana,
1, E 25003 LLEIDA.
In keeping with the current evaluation practices for
scientific journals, for articles to be accepted, it is
essential that they are accompanied by a letter signed
by the author(s) certifying the originality of the
work and that it has not been nor will be published
in any other medium.
The Board of Editors will send each original to two
peer reviewers; it will then decide on its publication
and communicate its decision to the authors within
a period of no more than three months. It may also
make comments or suggestions to help improve the
article.
The format of the articles will be as follows: the title
(in the language of the article and in English) and
