This investigative work is intended to compile and present analytical<br />

information on professional training in general and specifically on the<br />

“Technological and Scientific Training of the Accounting Professional in the<br />

Universities of the city of Lima,” so as to give a reference diagnosis of the<br />

academic and administrative situation of higher education institutions as well as of<br />

those which have the sublime commitment of giving basic and intermediate<br />

instruction, so that the data here given will become a reference framework to<br />

formulate an integral reform of the education in Peru, taking into consideration<br />

both the short-term and the long-term plans.<br />

In order to achieve the objective of the above-mentioned investigative work<br />

and the causes that originate the deficient professional training of the Public<br />

Accountant, nine universities of the city of Lima with Account Schools were<br />

surveyed, which is the representation of the corresponding sample. The answers<br />

to the questions posed to the university authorities or the officials support the<br />

graphs and comments which are part of the body of this work.<br />

Prior to what has just been mentioned, a presentation on the situation of the<br />

education in Peru is made in this paper, considering its historical records; the<br />

instruction levels: pre-school, primary school, secondary school and university.<br />

Considering the existent bibliography of distinguished Peruvian specialists<br />

concerned about the problematic situation of universities, we include a comment<br />

on its evolution, starting from the times of the colony, then the republic and finally<br />

the university in Peru by the end of the 2Oth century. With regards to the<br />

problematical of the professional university training in our country in general, we<br />

have self-criticized the administrative and academic work which is undoubtedly<br />

and basically influenced by political, social, economic and other aspects which in<br />

turn causes the professional resulting as the final product of this process to be one<br />

according to the best understanding of each institution and very far from a real and<br />

coherent professional-forming policy required by the country.<br />
