Nota histórica: Esta constitución fue elaborada por la Asamblea General de Carolina del Sur que la aprobó como una “ley” el 19 de marzo, 1778, si bien no tuvo efectividad hasta noviembre de 1778. Poco después el tribunal supremo de Carolina del Sur declaró que ambas constituciones de 1776 y 1778 eran leyes ordinarias de la asamblea general que dicho cuerpo podía revocar o modificar a su voluntad. 1.
