Bienvenidos
Raleigh Expedition 09F&G has been an astounding success,
combining 10 week and 5 week expeditions and completing a total
of 11 projects. It is the combined energy, dedication and sheer hard
work of all 85 Venturers and 25 Volunteer Managers that has made
the projects we’ve worked on so outstanding, as you will see in
the following pages. Each of you has made a positive and lasting
impact on your team members as well as the local communities
and the National Parks in which your projects were based. We hope
that you all leave Costa Rica and Nicaragua feeling that you have
challenged yourselves and that you have had the time of your lives.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all of you for making the
last 3 months such an incredible experience.

Sobre Raleigh
Raleigh is a charity that provides adventurous and challenging
expeditions for young adults aged 17-24 from diverse backgrounds
and nationalities. Over the last 25 years, 30,000 people have
been involved in more than 250 expeditions in more than 40
countries worldwide. Participants have had the opportunity to
develop their skills, explore the world, and make a real impact
on local communities and the environment. Raleigh has been
working in Costa Rica and Nicaragua for the past seven years.
We have completed 168 projects; all with the absolute dedication
of 1931 Venturers and 454 Volunteer Managers. These people
have volunteered their time to make a positive impact on diverse
communities and to aid in the conservation of the environment for
the people of Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
La Expedición 09F&G de Raleigh ha sido todo un éxito, con la
realización de 11 proyectos en expediciones de 10 y 5 semanas.
La combinación de energía, dedicación y arduo trabajo de
los 85 participantes y 25 guías, es lo que ha hecho que los
mismos sean tan exitosos, tal y como se podrá evidenciar en
las siguientes páginas. Cada uno de ustedes ha marcado un
impacto positivo y duradero sobre los miembros de su equipo,
así como en las comunidades locales y los Parques Nacionales
en donde se ubican los proyectos. Esperamos que dejen Costa
Rica y Nicaragua sintiendo que no sólo se han desafiado a
ustedes mismos sino que aparte pudieron experimentar uno de
los mejores momentos en sus vidas. Nos gustaría agradecerles
profundamente por hacer de estos últimos 3 meses una
experiencia tan increíble.

Raleigh Internacional es una organización de caridad que ofrece
expediciones de aventura y retos para gente de todas las clases,
nacionalidades, especialmente gente joven entre 17 y 24 años.
Desde hace 25 años, 30.000 personas se han involucrado en más
de 250 expediciones alrededor de 40 países, desarrollando sus
habilidades, explorando el mundo y marcando la diferencia en
comunidades locales y medio ambiente. Raleigh ha trabajado en

Our Projects/Lugares de Projectos
Community Projects/Projectos Comunales
Living in the heart of some of the most remote areas in Costa Rica
and Nicaragua, these projects provide a unique opportunity to work
alongside members of communities to provide access to clean water,
build schools and community centres. The hard work of the Raleigh
groups helps to improve the quality of life and provide valuable
resources for many generations to come.
Environmental Projects/Projectos Ambientales
Based in Costa Rica’s National Parks, volunteers live and work
alongside park rangers to help maintain and improve the national
parks. These environmental projects are hugely important in helping
to preserve natural resources and habitats and protect important
species of plants and animals
Adventure Projects/Projectos de Aventura
The treks cover up to 280 kms in just 19 days. The groups learn
navigation, camping and survival skills, teamwork strategies and
also get the chance to interact with locals. The 3am starts, tough
climbs, and up to 10 hours of trekking per day are all worthwhile
when rewarded with the incredible views, abundance of wildlife
and beautiful beaches. Trekking is a tough physical and mental
challenge that not only gives participants a huge sense of
achievement, but the belief that they can overcome anything.
Al vivir en el corazón de algunas de las áreas más remotas de Costa
Rica y Nicaragua, estos proyectos brindan la oportunidad única de
trabajar con miembros de las comunidades ayudando a proveer
facilidades básicas tales como acceso a agua limpia, escuelas y
centros comunales. El arduo trabajo de los grupos de Raleigh ayuda
a mejorar la calidad de vida y provee valiosos recursos para las
muchas otras generaciones por venir.

Cuchey, Tayní Indigenous Reserve
Establecidos en los Parques Nacionales Costarricenses, los
grupos viven y trabajan con los guardaparques para ayudar al
mantenimiento y mejoramiento de los Parques Nacionales. Estos
proyectos ambientales son sumamente importantes para la
preservación de los recursos naturales y de los hábitats, y, en la
protección de importantes especies de plantas y animales.

Playa Camaronal
Las caminatas abarcan más de 280 kilómetros en 19 días. Los
grupos aprenden sobre supervivencia, orientación, campamento,
estrategias de trabajo en equipo, a la vez que se interactúa con
los locales. Se inicia a las 3 am, con duras escaladas y caminatas
de 10 horas al día, las cuales son recompensadas con increíbles
paisajes, abundante vida silvestre y hermosas playas. Esta
caminata es un duro desafío físico y mental que no solamente
brinda a los participantes un enorme sentido de logro sino que
otorga la certeza de que se podrá superar cualquier reto en el
futuro.

Expedition 09F
Expedition 09F was an action-packed expedition running
for 10 weeks from June to September. Split into three
phases, the venturers had an opportunity to trek through
Costa Rica and Nicaragua, directly impact life in local
communities by providing water and building community
centers, and to protect and preserve Costa Rica’s
diverse flora and fauna.
La Expedición 09F fue una expedición repleta de acción,
que abarcó un total de 10 semanas, iniciando en Junio
y terminando en Septiembre. Dividida en tres fases,
los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de caminar
a través de Costa Rica y Nicaragua, impactando
directamente la vida de comunidades locales mediante
el abastecimiento de agua potable, la construcción de
centros comunales y la protección y preservación de la
variada flora y fauna de Costa Rica.

Expedition 09G
During the 5-week Expedition 09G, the venturers got a
chance to undertake either an environmental project or
a community project. During the project phase 09G built
two schools and completed a trail through the jungle
followed by an exhilarating 8 day adventure and survival
challenge.
Durante las 5 semanas de Expedición 09G, los
participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de llevar a cabo
un proyecto ambiental o uno comunitario. Durante la
etapa de proyecto 09G se construyeron dos escuelas
y se completó un sendero a través del bosque, y a
lo cual prosiguió un estimulante reto de aventura y
supervivencia de 8 días.

La Calera - Achuapa
“We were set the task of providing the community of La Calera with
a fresh, clean water source. We arrived at the work site at 7am every
morning, got our tools and started digging trenches & building water
tanks with help from the locals and the Juan Francisco Paz Silva
Cooperative. The support of the community was no more apparent than
with our host families. We enjoyed traditional Nicaraguan breakfast,
lunch and dinner with our families and despite our lack of Spanish we
were able to communicate and build great relationships. Turning the
taps on in peoples’ houses at the end was just an amazing feeling,
knowing that the families we spent 3 weeks with would now have access
to fresh drinking water.”

“Nos asignaron la tarea de proveer a la comunidad de La Calera con el
recurso de agua potable. Llegábamos todas las mañanas a las 7 am
al lugar de trabajo, cogíamos nuestras herramientas y empezábamos a
cavar zanjas y a construir tanques de agua con ayuda de los locales y
de la Cooperativa Juan Francisco Paz Silva. El apoyo de la comunidad
fue tan remarcable como el apoyo que recibimos de parte de nuestras
familias anfitrionas. Disfrutamos el desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena
Nicaragüense con nuestras familias, y a pesar de la barrera del idioma,
fuimos capaces de comunicar y de crear grandes relaciones. El abrir los
tubos en las casas de la gente, nos llenó de mucho orgullo, ya que las
familias con las que convivimos 3 semanas iban a tener finalmente
acceso a agua fresca y potable.”

Las Palmas - Miraflor
“Our task was to build a local museum and community centre and we
immediately got stuck in with pick axes and shovels to make way for the
foundations. We soon settled into the Nicaraguan way of life. At first,
using a long drop and washing my clothes, scrubbing them against a
rock seemed a far cry from home but over time just became the norm.
And after a long and arduous day working in the sun there is nothing
more refreshing than a bucket over the head shower!
It was great to see so many people from local the community taking part
in the project. The people of Las Palmas and the partner organisation,
El Foro Miraflor, worked extremely hard to complete the community
centre. It is great to know that the building we built together will be a
central part of Las Palmas for many years to come.”

“Nuestro trabajo fue construir un museo local y un centro comunal por lo
que inmediatamente cogimos nuestras hachas de pico y palas para abrir
campo a los cimientos. Muy pronto nos adaptamos a la forma de vida de
los Nicaragüenses. Al principio, utilizar una letrina, lavar mi ropa y tener
que restregarla en una roca nos hacía extrañar mucho nuestras casas,
pero con el tiempo nos acostumbramos a hacer las cosas a su manera. Y
después de un largo y arduo día de trabajo bajo el sol, no hay nada más
refrescante que un balde de agua fresca sobre la cabeza!
Fue grandioso ver cuanta gente de la comunidad local formó parte del
proyecto. La gente de Las Palmas y la organización asociada, el Foro
Miraflor, trabajaron muy duro para terminar el centro comunal. Es genial
saber que la construcción que hicimos juntos constituirá una parte central
de Las Palmas por muchos años venideros.”

Bajo Coen - Tayni Indigenous Reserve
“After being dropped off in what felt like the middle of nowhere we began
our hike into the Tayní Indigenous Reserve. We eagerly set off to Bajo
Coen excited about the challenges that we would face.
Work started on the school quickly with everyone in high spirits. By the
end of the first week the foundations were built, the floor beams and
joists were in and the wall supports completed.
The school was finished in time for the grand opening fiesta on the day of
our leaving. It was quite emotional to leave the community in which we
had been made to feel so welcome but one last look back at the school
as we left made us all realise how much of a difference we had made to
the lives of the community.”

“Después de habernos dejado en lo que se sentía como en el medio de
la nada, empezamos nuestra caminata hacia la Reserva Indígena Tayní.
Con gran entusiasmo partimos hacia Bajo Coen, ilusionados por los
retos que tendríamos que afrontar.
El trabajo inició con los espíritus en alto y rápidamente con la
construcción de la escuela .Para finales de la primera semana los
cimientos estaban listos, las vigas del suelo y los soportes de la pared
estaban terminados.
La escuela se terminó a tiempo para la gran fiesta de inauguración, a
nuestra partida. Fue bastante emocional dejar la comunidad que nos
hizo sentir tan bienvenidos. Pero un último vistazo a la escuela antes de
irnos, nos hizo darnos cuenta de la gran diferencia que hicimos en la vida
de esta comunidad.”

Cuchey - Tayni Indigenous Reserve
“Delta 2 were greeted with a long, muddy hike through the mountains
upon arriving in Tayni. Once we had reached Cuchey, we were tired but
ready to start building the school.
The end of week 1 saw the first floor beams in place and the skeleton of
the walls began to take shape. Week 2 presented us with an altogether
different mountain to climb, literally as well as mentally, as we spent the
majority of the week hauling wood from around the scattered community
and bringing it to the school. Hammering and sawing away, we created
the walls and the roof in days, finding time before the end to paint the
exterior.
We presented the completed school to parents and children of the
community in a big party on the last day. All genuinely satisfied with our
work and moved by the impact we had made on many in the
community, we left Cuchey with memories we will never forget.”

“Delta 2 fue recibido con una larga y lodosa caminata a través de las
montañas hasta llegar a Tayní. Una vez que llegarnos a Cuchey,
estábamos cansados pero listos para empezar a construir la escuela.
El final de la primera semana atestiguó la puesta de las vigas del piso
y la estructura de las paredes tomando forma. La segunda semana nos
presentó con una situación muy diferente ya que dedicamos la mayoría
de la semana jalando madera de los alrededores de la dispersa
comunidad y llevándola a la escuela. Martillando y cortando con sierra
creamos las paredes y el techo en cuestión de días, y con tiempo de
sobra para pintar el exterior.
Presentamos la escuela terminada a los padres y niños de la
comunidad en una gran fiesta el último día. Todos genuinamente
satisfechos con nuestro trabajo y emocionados por el impacto que
logramos para muchos en la comunidad, dejamos Cuchey con
recuerdos que nunca olvidaremos.”

Playa El Rey
Playa El Rey is a beautiful stretch of beach on the Pacific coast of Costa
Rica. Part of Manuel Antonio National Park, Playa El Rey is home to one
of the country’s most endangered species - turtles.
Logging has impacted on some of the wildlife reserve and so the group
were busy clearing non-native species and planting native trees in their
place.
“It was hard work under the baking sun but living in an amazing place,
seeing the turtles lay their eggs and waking each morning by the Pacific
Ocean was an incredible way to complete our Raleigh Experience.”

Playa El Rey es un trecho de playa en la costa del Pacífico de Costa
Rica. Parte del Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, Playa El Rey es hogar
de una de las especies en mayor riesgo de extinción: las tortugas. La
deforestación ha impactado en algunas especies de la vida silvestre de
la reserva así que el grupo estuvo ocupado limpiando el área de especies
no nativas y en su lugar plantando árboles nativos del lugar.
“Fue un arduo trabajo bajo el calor asfixiante pero viviendo en un lugar
asombroso, observando las tortugas poner sus huevos y despertar cada
mañana frente al Océano Pacífico fue una increíble manera de completar
nuestra experiencia con Raleigh.”

Playa Hermosa
The Playa Hermosa coast is home to the rare Olive Ridley and
Hawksbill turtles. Coatis, as well as raccoons and vultures, dig up turtle
nests to feast on their eggs; less than 10 percent of turtle eggs hatch.
“Living amongst the sea turtle habitat and working day and night to
protect and preserve these incredible creatures was a rewarding
experience for us. Considering only about 1% of hatchlings survive to
adulthood, seeing a newly hatched turtle making its way through the
waves out into the ocean to start its new life was hugely enriching.”

La costa de Playa Hermosa es hogar de las tortugas poco comunes Lora
y Carey. Los pisotes, mapaches al igual que los zopilotes, desentierran
en la arena los huevos de estas tortugas para comérselos, por lo que
menos del 10% de los huevos de tortuga logran nacer.
“El vivir en medio de el hábitat de las tortugas y trabajar noche y día en
la protección y preservación de estas increíbles tortugas fue una experiencia
liberadora para nosotros. Considerando que sólo un 1% de las
tortuguitas recién nacidas sobreviven a la adultez, fue enriquecedor el
poder observar cómo éstas se abrían paso a través de las olas hacia el
océano, para empezar una nueva vida”.

La Cangreja National Park
La Cangreja is one of Costa Rica’s newest National Parks. Raleigh
has been tasked with building a trail from one side to the other
allowing the park rangers to continue to research and conserve
many species of plants unique to La Cangreja.
“It was amazing to live in the jungle and create a camp, our home,
out of just a few basha beds, tarpaulins and natural resources.
Seeing the group learn how to adapt, survive and enjoy life without
luxuries was fantastic.”

La Cangreja es uno de los Parques Nacionales más recientes de
Costa Rica. A Raleigh se le ha asignado la construcción de un sendero
de un lado a otro para permitir a los guardaparques el seguimiento
de la investigación y la conservación de muchas especies de
plantas únicas de La Cangreja.
“Fue increíble vivir en el bosque y crear un campamento, nuestra
casa, con catres, lonas y recursos naturales. Fue fantástico observar
cómo el grupo se adaptaba, sobrevivía y disfrutada de una vida
sin lujos.”

Barbilla National Park
“The project in Barbilla National Park did not fail any of our
expectations. Our task was to build a trail that links the ranger
station to the River Danta in the heart of the national park.
Three weeks of living in close contact with nature in the heart of the
rainforest, with hard work and even harder conditions, was
challenging but very rewarding.
For the last few days we went to Manzanillo Beach, the highlight of
which was a tour round the nature reserve, during which we saw
howler monkeys, crabs, snakes, and a pair of sloths. Despite the
weather threatening again, it was a lot drier than the previous few
weeks, and gave us a much needed time to unwind after a great
three weeks of hard work.”

“El proyecto en el Parque Nacional Barbilla no defraudó ninguna de
nuestras expectativas. Nuestra tarea fue la de construir un sendero
que conectara la estación de guardaparques con el Río Danta, en
el corazón del parque nacional. El vivir tres semanas en contacto
directo con la naturaleza en el corazón del bosque lluvioso,
realizando labores arduas y en difíciles condiciones, fue un gran reto
para nosotros pero sobre todo muy gratificante.
Los últimos días fuimos a la Playa de Manzanillo, cuyo momento
más interesante fue un tour por la reserva natural, durante el cual
vimos congos, cangrejos, serpientes e incluso un par de
perezosos. A pesar de la amenaza de mal tiempo otra vez, estuvo
mucho más seco que las semanas previas, lo cual nos permitió
tomarnos un tiempo para relajarnos después de tres semanas de
intenso trabajo.”

Playa Camaronal
Each year 5,000 turtles come to lay their eggs at the Camaronal
Wildlife Reserve. During the phase, the group built and monitored
turtle hatcheries. As an increasing endangered species, the turtle
hatchery and beach markers are important to increase the number
of hatching turtles, to monitor the number of nesting turtles each
year and for educational purposes.
“Living in the ranger station and having the beach as our office
everyday was amazing. Patrolling at night, looking after the eggs
and then releasing them was a truly rewarding experience.”

Cada año, 5000 tortugas vienen a la Reserva Silvestre de Camaronal
a depositar su huevos. Durante esta fase, el grupo construyó
y monitoreó el nacimiento de tortugas. Debido a que estas especies
se encuentran en peligro de extinción, el vivero de tortugas y el
marcaje con mojones en la playa son importantes para incrementar
el número de tortugas nacidas, monitorear el número de nidos de
tortugas cada año y también para propósitos educativos.
“Fue extraordinario vivir en la estación de guardaparques y tener
la playa como nuestra oficina cada día. Fue verdaderamente una
experiencia gratificante el patrullar en la noche, cuidar los huevos y
después liberarlos.”

Guanacaste Trek
“As we sat beneath the porch of the Cerro Cacao Ranger station at
cloud level watching an electrical storm play out before us, we all
had time to reflect on trekking 220km across the Guanacaste
region of northern Costa Rica. Early mornings, blistered feet,
aching backs; none of these things mattered. The sheer sense of
achievement was reward enough. We were able to summit two
volcanoes, bathe in two sets of hot springs, gaze in wonder at the
vast cascades tumbling over enchanted waterfalls and look out over
mud baths that reach up to 106˚C! Over the past 19 days we have
pushed ourselves to the limit of what we thought we could achieve
and way beyond, we have seen sights that were more
impressive and spectacular than our wildest dreams and we
have made some of the best and closest friends we have ever had.”

“Sentados bajo la terraza de la estación de guardaparques del Cerro
Cacao, y al nivel de las nubes, observando una tormenta eléctrica
justo en frente de nosotros, todos tuvimos tiempo de reflexionar la
caminata de 220km a través de la región de Guanacaste al norte
de Costa Rica. Madrugadas, ampollas en los pies, y espaldas adoloridas,
nada importó. El absoluto sentido de logro fue suficiente
recompensa. Fuimos capaces de llegar a la cima de dos volcanes,
bañarnos en pilas de aguas termales, observar con maravilla las
enormes cascadas cayendo sobre las encantadoras cataratas y
echar un vistazo sobre baños de lodo que alcanzaban los 106C!
Durante los 19 días dimos todo lo que podíamos dar y hasta un
poco más, pudimos ver lugares mucho más espectaculares que en
nuestro más salvaje sueño y además conocimos a nuestros mejores
y más cercanos amigos.”

Maribios Trek
“The 280km trek through the Maribios Volcano Chain was by far the most
challenging, awe-inspiring, and dramatic experience I’ve had to date. As
the sun rose we would pack up our personal gear, eat a quick porridge
breakfast, do our morning stretches and head out into the wilds of
northwestern Nicaragua.
The afternoons were wrought with extreme heat and humidity; most days
reached 35-40˙C. Even though we struggled with blistered feet,
dehydration, and strained muscles, we averaged 20 km per day. A
highlight of each day was being greeted by locals who willingly opened
their community centers or schools for us to lay our weary heads for the
night. And then we did it all over again the next day. Our team overcame
monstrous obstacles together; usually with smiles on our faces. The
days were long and tough, but the breath-taking views and the incredible
friendships formed made it all worthwhile.”

“El reto más formidable y la experiencia más dramática que haya tenido
hasta ahora fue sin duda los 280km a través de la Cadena Volcánica
de Maribios. A como amanecía empacábamos nuestras cosas, desayunábamos
un poco de avena, hacíamos nuestros estiramientos matutinos
e iniciábamos con nuestra caminata hacia el noroeste de Nicaragua.
Las tardes fueron muy agitadas, de extremo calor y humedad, la mayoría
de los días alcanzaban los 35-40C. A pesar de que batallamos con pies
llenos de ampollas, deshidratación, y esguinces, logramos un promedio
de 20km por día. El punto culminante de cada día fue la acogida de
las personas quienes muy amablemente abrían sus centros comunales
y escuelas para que nosotros pudiéramos descansar por las noches.
Y después volvíamos a hacer exactamente los mismo el día siguiente.
Nuestro grupo superó unido grandes obstáculos, usualmente con sonrisas
en sus caras. Los días fueron largos y difíciles, pero los paisajes
maravillosos y el increíble lazo de amistad que formamos hizo que todo
valiera la pena.”

Adventure Challenge
At the end of Expedition 09G we all undertook an 8 day adventure
challenge that proved to be an extravaganza of trekking, problem
solving and survival exercises. We climbed the mighty Cerro Bares,
walked through the driving rain, hiked through the La Cangreja National
Park – it was tougher that we could have imagined but hugely
enjoyable.
“The Survival Challenge on the island was a surprise to us – each day we
didn’t know what was going to happen next. It was an incredible
experience to have to survive on a deserted former-prison island. With
just howler monkeys for company we had to work as a team to get
through. None of us will forget swimming from the pier as the sun went
down. In a very short period of time we formed strong bonds and
friendships that will last a life time. An incredibly powerful experience,
the last 8 days have helped me to gain confidence, courage and insight
into facing new challenges.”

Al final de la expedición 09G todos emprendimos un reto de aventura
de 8 días que demostró ser un gran espectáculo de caminata, resolución
de problemas y ejercicios de supervivencia. Escalamos el enorme
Cerro Bares, caminamos a través de la lluvia, excursionamos a través del
Parque Nacional La Cangreja. Todo fue más duro de lo que pensamos
pero inmensamente divertido.
“El Reto de Supervivencia en la isla fue una sorpresa para nosotros. Cada
día desconocíamos lo que iba a pasar después. Fue una experiencia increíble
el tener que sobrevivir en una isla desierta que fue anteriormente
una prisión. Con congos como única compañía tuvimos que trabajar en
grupo para poder salir avante. Ninguno de nosotros olvidará las nadadas
que nos dimos cerca del muelle cuando caía la tarde. En un período de
tiempo muy corto construimos verdaderos lazos de amistad que durarán
para toda la vida. Una experiencia increíblemente poderosa. Los últimos
8 días me han ayudado a ganar confianza en mí misma (o), a tener valor
y adquirir una nueva percepción a la hora de encarar nuevos desafíos.”

Raleigh considers the participation of young people from Costa Rica and
Nicaragua crucial to the success of our expeditions.
Partnership Venturers
These venturers are positive young people from disadvantaged
backgrounds in the UK who participate on a Raleigh expedition as part of a
longer term development programme.
UK and International Fundraising Venturers
Fundraising Venturers work hard to raise money to contribute towards the
charity’s work and expenses in order to take part in the expedition.
Volunteer Managers
Each year over 300 Volunteer Managers join Raleigh expeditions in a variety
of roles. They play an integral part in the running of these expeditions,
helping to make a difference to the lives of young people and local
communities.

Ministerio de Ambiente, Energia y Telecomunicaciones (MINAET)
The Costa Rican National Parks Authority is a key partner to our work in
Costa Rica, providing materials, direction, strategy and structure to our
environmental and adventure projects in Costa Rica. They are responsible for
all of the National Parks and protected areas in the country. Each protected
area is managed according to a strategy developed in partnership between
local populations, park rangers, scientists and civil societies. All Raleigh
International projects in the National Parks are part of the management plans
of each area.
Cooperativa Juan Francisco Paz Silva
Raleigh International has an established seven year partnership with the
Cooperative Juan Francisco Paz Silva in the Achuapa area of Northern
Nicaragua. The Cooperative works with local farmers in the farming of
sesame seed, cattle and ‘Rosa de Jamaica’, in order to improve the quality
of life of families in the local area. They provide the cooperative members
with health, veterinary and financial services, agricultural advice, and also to
deliver social improvement projects at the request of the community.
El Foro Miraflor
El Foro Miraflor is a key partner of Raleigh International in our work in
Nicaragua. El Foro Miraflor is a non-governmental organisation responsible
for the co-management of the Miraflor-Moropotente Nature Reserve, with
the mandate of conserving the natural resources in the area in partnership
with the government, civil society and the local inhabitants. Raleigh works
in partnership with El Foro Miraflor to build educational and community
facilities including improving access to education, water and health services.

Raleigh Internacional tiene una sociedad establecida desde hace siete años
con la Cooperativa Juan Francisco Paz Silva en el área de Achuapa, al Norte
de Nicaragua. La Cooperativa trabaja con agricultores locales en la siembra
de semillas de ajonjolí, rosa de jamaica y ganado, con el fin de mejorar la
calidad de vida de las familias de la localidad. También provee a los miembros
de la cooperativa con veterinario, servicios de salud y consultoría financiera
y agrícola; como también entrega proyectos de mejora social a pedido de la
comunidad.
El Foro Miraflor
El Foro Miraflor es un socio clave de Raleigh Internacional en su trabajo
en Nicaragua. El Foro Miraflor es una organización no gubernamental
responsable por el manejo conjunto de la Reserva Natural Moropotente de
Miraflor, con el mandato de conservar los recursos naturales en el área en
alianza entre el gobierno, la sociedad civil y los habitantes locales. Raleigh
trabaja en conjunto con El Foro Miraflor para construir facilidades educativas
