Laurie Gail Pila, a daughter of Lily Pila and Nathan Pila
of Toronto, was married Saturday evening to Gregory
Evrett Sheindlin, a son of Suzanne Sheindlin of
Hallandale Beach, Fla., and Gerald Sheindlin of
Naples, Fla. The bridegroom’s father, a retired acting
justice of State Supreme Court in New York, officiated
at his New York home. The bridegroom’s stepmother,
Judith Sheindlin, a retired supervising family court
judge in New York, who is better known as the star of
“Judge Judy,” took part.Mrs. Sheindlin, 35, works in
New York as a freelance video producer for Web sites,
television productions and movies that feature food
and restaurants. She currently produces video content
for RachaelRay.com, and was the producer of “Amore
Pulpo,” a short film shown last year at the New York
and Chicago Food Film Festivals. Her parents own a
real estate and investment company in Toronto that
bears their surname. Mr. Sheindlin, 47, is a founding
partner in the New York law firm Sheindlin & Sullivan.
He graduated from the State University at Albany and
Brooklyn Law School. His mother is an independent
financial planner in Hallandale Beach. From 1999 to
2001, his father appeared as the judge on the
syndicated television series “The People’s Court.” The
bride’s first marriage ended in divorce.
