Procedure Followed with Articles<br />
General Conditions. Reception of articles<br />
All articles received are given to the Editor, who<br />
will acknowledge receipt thereof and <strong>de</strong>ci<strong>de</strong><br />
whether to publish them or not after an initial<br />
evaluation comprising a) the appropriateness of<br />
the subject and the interest of the article for the<br />
Journal, and b) compliance of formal submission<br />
requirements as per the publication rules. If<br />
the article does not meet said gui<strong>de</strong>lines, it is<br />
returned to the author for adaptation within a<br />
maximum period of one month.<br />
Peer Review System<br />
After verifying that the article fulfils the formal<br />
requirements, it shall be sent for evaluation<br />
by two or more expert reviewers (external or<br />
members of the Scientific Committee), preserving<br />
confi<strong>de</strong>ntiality and anonymity (double blind).<br />
Said reviewers shall <strong>de</strong>ci<strong>de</strong> on the publication of<br />
the article within the term of one month.<br />
In the event of contrary evaluations<br />
by the two reviewers, the article shall be given<br />
to a third expert reviewer who will take the final<br />
<strong>de</strong>cision.<br />
Original articles, short notes and reviews<br />
shall be subject to external paired review.<br />
Reviewed submissions which are<br />
eligible for publication with some changes must<br />
be returned within one month, regardless of<br />
whether minor or major changes are requested.<br />
The author/s shall receive the reviewers’<br />
anonymous evaluation reports so that they can<br />
introduce (when applicable) the appropriate<br />
corrections.<br />
Should it be necessary to introduce<br />
changes in the form or subject matter prior to<br />
acceptance, the author will be contacted with a<br />
suggestion to do so. If <strong>de</strong>emed appropriate, the<br />
author may be requested to confirm the date,<br />
to which end authors are advised to keep the<br />
statistical documents, i<strong>de</strong>ntification of clinical<br />
cases, etc., up to publication. The Editor reserves<br />
the right to make contact with the Research<br />
Committee of the institution where the work was<br />
carried out to request <strong>de</strong>tails thereof.<br />

Article printing process<br />
After successful completion of the evaluation<br />
process, the main author will be notified of the<br />
acceptance or not of the article for publication<br />
in Archivos. Accepted articles will go to print.<br />
The test printouts shall be sent to the author for<br />
correcting mistakes and must be returned, with<br />
the appropriate corrections, within ten days from<br />
the remittance date. If no corrections are received<br />
within this term, the article will be published as<br />
<strong>de</strong>livered by the printer, in which case neither<br />
the printer nor the Spanish Ophthalmologic<br />
Society will be liable for any mistakes which may<br />
reach publication. No changes to the original<br />
manuscript will be allowed in the proof reading.<br />
Reviewer selection criteria<br />
The reviewers are selected through the Journal<br />
editors taking into account their aca<strong>de</strong>mic and<br />
scientific merits as well as professional experience<br />
in each ophthalmologic subspecialty, including<br />
national and international researchers.<br />
Editorial Policy criteria<br />
The gui<strong>de</strong>lines of the Journal’s editorial staff<br />
for accepting or <strong>de</strong>clining submissions are: a)<br />
originality: the work must be completely original,<br />
providing valuable information and repetition of<br />
known results; b) current validity and novelty;<br />
c)relevance: applicability of results for resolving<br />
specific problems; d) significance: progress<br />
of scientific knowledge; e) scientific reliability<br />
and validity: proven methodological quality;<br />
f)presentation: good wording and organisation<br />
(logical consistency and presentation).<br />
Authorisation for reprinting published material<br />
The content of this Journal may be reproduced, in<br />
full or in part, provi<strong>de</strong>d that the source is quoted<br />
and prior written authorisation is requested from<br />
the Editor’s office.<br />
Ethical principles for Research and Publication<br />
The Journal management informs that it is the<br />
obligation of the editorial staff of Archivos to<br />
i<strong>de</strong>ntify and report the following dishonest<br />
practices related to scientific fraud: a) fabrication,<br />
