General Conditions<br />

“Archivos <strong>de</strong> la <strong>Sociedad</strong> <strong>Argentina</strong> <strong>de</strong><br />

<strong>Oftalmología</strong>” is the official journal of the<br />

Argentinian Ophthalmologic Society. It gives<br />

priority to the publication of basic and clinical<br />

research reports as revisions, original articles, short<br />

communications and editorial comments related<br />

to Ophthalmology and its different specialties.<br />

In addition, it also publishes letters to the editor,<br />

book reviews, information on events, personal<br />

and tra<strong>de</strong> announcements as well as work on<br />

historical issues and iconographic topics related<br />

to Ophthalmology.<br />

The texts must be in Spanish or English.<br />

The texts submitted for publication must inclu<strong>de</strong><br />

a letter of the author or, if coauthored, by the first<br />

author, to the Editor of “Archivos <strong>de</strong> la <strong>Sociedad</strong><br />

<strong>Argentina</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Oftalmología</strong>”, Viamonte. Capital<br />

Fe<strong>de</strong>ral. Buenos Aires. <strong>Argentina</strong>.<br />

Any contribution or article sent to «Archivos»<br />

must indicate the section it is to be published in.<br />

Sections<br />

Editorial comments, reviews and notes<br />

The editorial comments, reviews and notes will<br />

be by request of the Society or the editor of<br />

«Archivos» un<strong>de</strong>r particular <strong>de</strong>tails in each case.<br />

Letters to the Editor<br />

Contributions to this Section may inclu<strong>de</strong><br />

comments on articles published in the Journal<br />

or comments on other topics of interest in<br />

Ophthalmology. This correspon<strong>de</strong>nce will be<br />

subject to review by the editor and shall be<br />

published provi<strong>de</strong>d there is enough space and<br />

it meets the priorities and interests at the time.<br />

Letters must not exceed 00 words and shall<br />

inclu<strong>de</strong> an introductory title. A maximum of two<br />

illustrations and three bibliographical quotes will<br />

be accepted.<br />

Letters concerning published articles may be<br />

replied. They shall be sent to the author of the<br />

Archivos <strong>de</strong> <strong>Oftalmología</strong> 2008; <strong>79</strong><br />

original article, who may answer with a text of<br />

similar size within the term of one month. The<br />

letter to the Editor shall be published together<br />

with said reply. No proof will be sent other than<br />

for correction of slight mistakes.<br />

Reviews<br />

The purpose of the Reviews is to update<br />

specific ophthalmologic topics, clarify new<br />

concepts or review classic ones in the light<br />

of new <strong>de</strong>velopments in diagnostic and<br />

treatment. These reviews should correlate basic<br />

scientific knowledge with clinical experience<br />

in a didactic and critical manner, with a slant<br />

towards the clinical environment. If the original<br />

is not in Spanish, the author/s must authorise<br />

simultaneous publication in English and Spanish.<br />

The length must not exceed 20-3 pages with up<br />

to 20 images.<br />

The general rules, i<strong>de</strong>ntification sheet, abstract,<br />

key words and bibliography must match the<br />

original journal articles.<br />

Original articles<br />

Experimental and clinical articles can be inclu<strong>de</strong>d<br />

here, provi<strong>de</strong>d they inclu<strong>de</strong> research work.<br />

Research articles must be previously unpublished<br />

and should not be in the hands of other journals<br />

pending publication. The preparation thereof<br />

must follow the following rules:<br />

o Original and two copies must be<br />

submitted . The original must be sent in<br />

computer media, specifying the word processor<br />

programme and computer mo<strong>de</strong>l. In or<strong>de</strong>r to<br />

speed up the evaluation of your work, please<br />

send digitalised images together with the<br />

computer file containing the article. However,<br />

the copies must be sent by mail, on white paper<br />

with black type, print style letters. Said copies<br />

must not inclu<strong>de</strong> the name of the author/s.<br />

o The hard copies must be in ISO A4 size<br />

(210 x 297 mm) written one si<strong>de</strong> only and in<br />

double spacing, with a maximum of 28 lines per<br />

page and 67 spaces per line and approximately<br />

equal margins on both si<strong>de</strong>s. Maximum of 10<br />

pages of text and bibliography.<br />
