Instructions for contributors
Articles and reviews must be submitted by 31 March to the address anuari.trilcat@upf.edu.
1. The originals will be articles or documents with a maximum length of 65,000 characters,
including spaces, with abstracts in Catalan or Spanish and in English of 500–1,000
characters, including spaces, and key words in Catalan or Spanish and in English
(between 3 and 6). Contributions must be sent in a MS Word file to the address anuari.
trilcat@upf.edu.
2. The style must be Times New Roman 12 (for the main text, double spaced) and Times
New Roman 10 (for the footnotes, single spaced).
3. If there are illustrations, they must be numbered and each of them must have an
explanatory text at the bottom.
4. Short quotations must be integrated in the body of the main text. If they are long (more
than two lines), they must appear separated by a blank line.
5. Italics will be used for the titles of books, theatrical works, artistic pieces and periodical
publications. The titles of articles and loose compositions (tales, poems) must be placed
between double quotations.
6. Footnote calls must be placed after the punctuation signs.
7. References to the bibliography (primary and secondary sources) must follow the author-
date system. If the text already indicates the author and the date, it is not necessary to
repeat them. Examples:
The bottom problem was always the same: the incompatibility between the
Catalan constitutional system and the needs of the Spanish imperial politics
(Rubiés 1999: 3).
The fables of La Fontaine translated by Carner and published by Editorial
Catalana in 1921 are an example of the use of phraseology within literary
language, as Carles Riba observed when reviewing the work in that year.
8. Notes must appear at the bottom of the page (with the system provided by MS Word), not
at the end of the document. Footnotes that contain only bibliographical references should
be avoided, except when there are multiple references or when they are accompanied
by a comment.
9. At the end of the text, under the heading “Bibliographical references”, a single list of
all the primary and secondary sources must be included. The list must include the
pagination, preceded by the abbreviation “p.” (one page) or “pp.” (several pages).
