SEPTIMO INFORME DE LA SALIDA A LOS CHIMALAPAS DEL 23 DE SEPTIEMBRE AL ,07 DE OCTUBRE.: DE 4995 (LOCALIDAD: LA GRINGA) MASTOZOOLOGIA UBALDO M. SAMPER P. Y JOSE M. GARCIA L. La localidad visitada pertenece al Municipio de Santa María Chimalapas, Distrito de Juchitán, Oaxaca. Informe de la 1ª salida de investigación a la zona "La Gringa" , Mpio. Santa María Chimalapa, Oaxaca. Area: Florística y Vegetación, Para el trabajo florístico se realizaron colectas de material botánico en tres comunidades vegetales de la zona de La Gringa. Estas colectas se realizaron en ambientes riparios, en zonas de vegetación secundaria (acahuales) y en zonas no perturbadas de selva alta perennifolia. Se colectaron aproximadamente 200 especies de material fértil de angiospermas y de pteridofitas (con flores y/o frutos o soros, respectivamente). Adicionalmente se realizó un registro visual de alrededor de 50 especies que no contaban con estructuras reproductivas en ese momento, pero que son fácilmente reconocibles por previa experiencia en trabajos de vegetación secundaria. Para el trabajo de vegetación se efectuó un muestreo en una porción de selva alta perennifolia situado aproximadamente a una hora y media de camino al sur del campamento. El muestreo se hizo utilizando un método con área muy comúnmente empleado en el estudio de este tipo de comunidades, el cual consiste en muestrear 10 transectos de 50 X 2 m para obtener una muestra de 0.1 ha en total. Con los datos del muestreo se puede inferir la composición florística y la estructura de la comunidad (densidad, area basal, frecuencia totales y por especie). Para colectar los árboles altos fue necesario emplear técnicas de trepado, que implican la utilización de equipo especial. Esta labor requiere de mucho tiempo y esfuerzo, pero es de suma importancia ya que nos permite identificar los elementos arbóreos del dosel superior, no necesariamente muy abundantes pero de gran importancia en la estructura de la comunidad.
