Presentation to the analysts and investors - Lafarge Presentation to the analysts and investors - Lafarge
10 Summary Macroeconomic forces, primarily financing constraints, are creating significant business uncertainties across our industry. As a result, most producers are curtailing current production and slowing cement capacity additions around the world Most markets should still show increases in cement consumption in 2009 and 2010 There might be some local supply-demand imbalances, depending on the speed of implementation of the economic stimulus packages already announced by most governments and on the ability of the cement industry to adjust production to demand The cement industry already experienced such local imbalances in the past, without Lafarge being severely hurt. The size and geographical spread of our portfolio of assets as well as our successful cement / ReadyMix product differentiation policy of the last years should give Lafarge enough flexibility to mitigate the impacts of these potential local imbalances on our earnings
