MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE G-18.mft with vending machine control system 8 Maintenance and service In this chapter you will out how to • clean the G-18.mft, • indicate the battery voltage using the light-emitting diodes on the validator, • test the vending machine components to be controlled manually, • interpret status and error messages of the pilot lights in the machine door or clear faults, • remedy the cause of other malfunctions. Cleaning coin validator The coin validator must only be wiped clean from time to time with a damp cloth (lukewarm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid): Beyond that, no further maintenance work is required. Under no circumstances may the cloth be so wet that fluid runs into the device. Otherwise the PCB will be damaged. Do not use any solvents or scouring agents that will attack the plastic material of the device. 1 De-energize the coin validator. 2 Carefully open the flight deck 1 on the left-hand side and hold it open (see Fig. 4). 3 Use a cloth to wipe off the coin runway inside the coin validator. 4 Close the flight deck again. 5 Provide the coin validator with voltage again. G-18.mft with vending machine control system MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE Displaying battery voltage The light-emitting diode (LED) on the left-hand side of the coin validator can be used to display the actual voltage of battery: 1 Insert a coin into the coin validator. The coin validator is now in the wake-up mode and no longer in the sleep mode. National Rejectors, Inc. GmbH, Buxtehude If the coin is inserted at too low battery voltage, the coin is no longer accepted. 2 Keep the return lever pressed down. The LED now indicates one of the following voltage states of the battery: LED flashes and does not light up Battery voltage max. LED flashes2 times per second Battery voltage no longer max. 3 times per second Battery voltage continues to drop . . . 11 times per second Battery voltage almost min. LED lights up constantly Battery voltage min. 3 Release the return lever. 41
