8 Maintenance and service<br />

In this chapter you will out how to<br />

• clean <strong>the</strong> G-<strong>18.mft</strong>,<br />

• indicate <strong>the</strong> battery voltage using <strong>the</strong> light-emitting diodes on <strong>the</strong><br />

validator,<br />

• test <strong>the</strong> vending machine components to be controlled manually,<br />

• interpret status and error messages <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pilot lights in <strong>the</strong> machine<br />

door or clear faults,<br />

• remedy <strong>the</strong> cause <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r malfunctions.<br />

Cleaning coin validator<br />

The coin validator must only be wiped clean from time to time with a damp<br />

cloth (lukewarm water with a small amount <strong>of</strong> washing-up liquid): Beyond<br />

that, no fur<strong>the</strong>r maintenance work is required.<br />

Under no circumstances may <strong>the</strong> cloth be so wet that fluid<br />

runs into <strong>the</strong> device. <strong>O<strong>the</strong>r</strong>wise <strong>the</strong> PCB will be damaged.<br />

Do not use any solvents or scouring agents that will attack <strong>the</strong><br />

plastic material <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> device.<br />

1 De-energize <strong>the</strong> coin validator.<br />

2 Carefully open <strong>the</strong> flight deck 1 on <strong>the</strong> left-hand side and hold it open<br />

(see Fig. 4).<br />

3 Use a cloth to wipe <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong> coin runway inside <strong>the</strong> coin validator.<br />

4 Close <strong>the</strong> flight deck again.<br />

5 Provide <strong>the</strong> coin validator with voltage again.<br />
