6 Starting up
The G-18.mft is either
• started up in a vending machine, or
• connected to one of the two NRI software solutions used to configure
the device:
– PC programming station (WinEMP)
– Palm handheld (PalmEMP)
Starting up in the vending machine
To start up the device you must:
• Fasten and connect the coin validator and additional control PCB in
the vending machine
• Activate a test run of the vending machine components to be
controlled
• Set prices
• Select "exact price" or "overpay"
Install coin validator and additional control PCB
1 Interrupt the voltage supply of the vending machine.
2 Set DIL switch 9 of the lower switching block S3 to
the lower position (OFF).
The MDB protocol for the vending machine control
system has been selected.
3 Set DIL switch 8 of the middle switching block S2
also to the lower position (OFF).
Master operation for any connected slaves has
been selected.
4 Connect both enclosed ribbon cables to the 14-pole
and 6-pole interfaces (3 and 4, Fig. 2a) of the coin validator.

If MDB slave devices are to be connected to the coin validator,
connect the MDB cable set to the 10-pole MDB interface 2 of the
coin validator (see Fig. 2a).
5 Hang the coin validator in the vending machine mount using the
lateral mounting studs 1 (see Fig. 2a).
