G-<strong>18.mft</strong> with vending machine control system STARTING UP<br />
6 Starting up<br />
The G-<strong>18.mft</strong> is ei<strong>the</strong>r<br />
• started up in a vending machine, or<br />
• connected to one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> two <strong>NRI</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware solutions used to configure<br />
<strong>the</strong> device:<br />
– PC programming station (WinEMP)<br />
– Palm handheld (PalmEMP)<br />
Starting up in <strong>the</strong> vending machine<br />
To start up <strong>the</strong> device you must:<br />
• Fasten and connect <strong>the</strong> coin validator and additional control PCB in<br />
<strong>the</strong> vending machine<br />
• Activate a test run <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vending machine components to be<br />
controlled<br />
• Set prices<br />
• Select "exact price" or "overpay"<br />
Install coin validator and additional control PCB<br />
1 Interrupt <strong>the</strong> voltage supply <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vending machine.<br />
2 Set DIL switch 9 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lower switching block S3 to<br />
<strong>the</strong> lower position (OFF).<br />
The MDB protocol for <strong>the</strong> vending machine control<br />
system has been selected.<br />
3 Set DIL switch 8 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> middle switching block S2<br />
also to <strong>the</strong> lower position (OFF).<br />
Master operation for any connected slaves has<br />
been selected.<br />
4 Connect both enclosed ribbon cables to <strong>the</strong> 14-pole<br />
and 6-pole interfaces (3 and 4, Fig. 2a) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> coin validator.<br />

If MDB slave devices are to be connected to <strong>the</strong> coin validator,<br />
connect <strong>the</strong> MDB cable set to <strong>the</strong> 10-pole MDB interface 2 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
coin validator (see Fig. 2a).<br />
5 Hang <strong>the</strong> coin validator in <strong>the</strong> vending machine mount using <strong>the</strong><br />
lateral mounting studs 1 (see Fig. 2a).<br />
