G-18.mft with vending machine control system DESIGN Return lever Coins inserted into the coin validator pass through the coin insert funnel 2 into the measurement and validation area of the device, where their coin properties are compared with the values of the stored acceptance bands. Coins rejected by the coin validator are directed into the return area and coins accepted for the vending operation leave the device through the coin outlet 9, which is located at a fixed position because the coin validator does not have a sorting function. (See Fig. 1a) The return lever 1 on the top of the coin validator is either directly operated mechanically or motor-controlled using the return button on the vending machine, if the coins which have already been inserted are to be returned or a jam caused by coins, e.g., which have become stuck needs to be removed. Operating the return lever opens the measurement and validation area of the coin validator so that all objects in the coin validator are transported into the return area.
