Hardware 3.2.2 Installation Both the Ventura Remote PLC controller and its I/O addons install on mounting rails (to DIN EN 50022, 35 x 7.5 mm). Procedure 1. Push up the device against the mounting rail from below, allowing the metal spring to snap in between mounting rail and mounting area. Look down the left side of your expansion module to discover a short ribbon cable and plug. The connector plugs into the counterplug located under the lid of the preceding device. 3.3 Power Supply 3.3.1 Earth left side wall Hardware The metal housing has to be connected to earth. Use the earth conductor located on the left side wall. � Earth conductor Cross section: min. 2.5 mm² Length: as short as possible � Interfacing Flat plug 6.3 x 0.8 mm � Function The earth conductor serves as operative earth (special case: relay module � E 409 GB). The +24 VDC and 0 V power supply connectors have an internal (by spring-actuated contacts on the PCB) capacitive connection to the housing which also attaches them to earth. Line-conducted HF interference is bled off into the ground. The PROFIBUS plug connector housing directly connects to operative earth which is where the cable shield is attached also. This earth conductor is no protection against high contact voltage. To provide sufficient protection, supply the devices with properly separated low voltage. 31
