5.2.1.2 Analogue inputs and outputs
Module I/Os %IWx and %QWy
These analogue I/Os attach as expansion modules to the
core Ventura Remote PLC unit by a ribbon cable. Further
configuration options are with the user who integrates the
appropriate expansion modules as required. I/Os are
mapped onto the process image and refreshed between
program cycles.
To view the operands of the module I/Os, run the
configuration utility and display the appropriate module
tab.
Example of 8AI Thermo used as Module0:
Inputs: %IW14-%IW21
Outputs: none
� Inputs "read" the analogue values of temperatures,
fill levels, speeds, etc. The A/D converter on the
module takes care of the analogue-to-digital
conversion. The digital value is sent to the CPU via
the process image and the expansion bus to be
further processed by the user program.
� Outputs send analogue control signals to drives etc.
in order to control and actuate them. The CPU
outputs the signals to a process image which puts
them onto the expansion bus according to user
program instructions. Digital-to-analogue conversion
is performed by the module. In the end, the analogue
signal is available at the appropriate terminal points.
