9 Maintenance
9.1 Replacing the Battery
Ventura has a 3 V lithium battery for buffering the power supply to the realtime
clock. The battery is located under the plastic cover on the top side of
the Ventura IPC.
The battery lasts for about 4 to 6 years. After that time, the battery should be
replaced.
Before replacing the battery, check that the system is completely dead. Immediately
before replacing the battery, be sure to attach Ventura IPC to the
power supply for at least 1 hour. The internal buffer circuit will then give you
an hour's time to replace the battery without any loss of data.
Replace the lithium battery (type CR2032) with a battery of the same type.
Procedure
• Switch off the Ventura IPC and disconnect it from the mains.
• Bleed any electrostatic charges via the housing or the earth conductor.
battery compartment
note the pull strip
• Remove the black plastic cover from the battery compartment and carefully
pull at the pull strip to remove the battery.
• Put in a new battery, taking care to placing it on the pull strip.
The integral buffer circuit will retain all data for one hour after switching off
and give you that much time to replace the battery.
Do not through the old lithium battery into the domestic waste.
Dispose of the battery compliant to local regulations concerning the disposal
of hazardous waste (e.g. by taking it to the special collecting points).
