Software KUHNKE Automation 7.4.3 Remote Debugging in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 This section tells you how to use Microsoft VS .NET 2003 CE to produce applications on the HOST development PC and to debug the source code with the application running on the actual target device, i.e. Ventura on a CE.NET platform. Remote Debugging is a component of the Microsoft development environment. Remote debugging is efficiently performed via Ethernet and an ActiveSync connection. The way to establishing an ActiveSync connection is explained in section 7.2 Connecting Using "ActiveSync. The text describes the "Smart Device Utility" variant as based on the add-on package of Windows CE utilities for Visual Studio .NET 2003. Prerequisites: • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 • To be able to run the Smart Device Utility for the debugging of the remote unit, you need "Windows CE .NET Utilities for Visual Studio .NET 2003.EXE". This Microsoft software is free and can be downloaded from the Internet. • Check that program folder 'Kuhnke' contains item SmartDeviceAuthentication. This file is delivered with the CE image. To connect: • Ventura IPC: Run tool SmartDeviceAuthentication and click on "Start'. Your Ventura IPC's IP address is displayed and tells you that the Ventura IPC is ready for communication. • HOST PC: Run Visual Studio 2003 on the development PC: Pick 'Smart Device Authentication Utility' from the 'Extra' menu, enter your Ventura IPC's IP address, and click on 'Set up device'. If opening a communication channel was successful, the following message will be displayed: 'Device has been prepped and ConmanClient.exe has been successfully launched'. Click on 'OK' and 'Close' to quit the utility. You are now connected with the Ventura IPC. In Visual Studio 2003, select 'Windows CE.NET device' as the target device. Choose 'TCP transport connection', click on 'Configure...', and enter Ventura IPC's IP address into the box labelled 'Use special IP address'. 54 E 674 GB 07.03.2007
KUHNKE Automation Software 7.5 Connecting with Ventura IPC's Software PLC (Windows CE) 7.5.1 Serial Interface Software PLC “PLCWinCE“ There are basically 3 channels available for communication: serial interface, Ethernet or Ethernet via a network. Serial (RS232) Ethernet Network • Connect a serial interface of the programming PC with Ventura IPC's serial interface labelled COM 1. Use a "null modem cable" with 9-pin female connectors. • In the CoDeSys development environment, define a new gateway channel using the following settings: • Switch on the power supply to Ventura IPC and run the software PLC. • From the Start menu, choose 'Programs', 'Kuhnke', 'PLCWinCE'. This launches the software PLC displaying the current status and connection details. E 674 GB 55 07.03.2007
