6.3.2 Create New SID<br />
When the <strong>Ventura</strong> <strong>IPC</strong> devices are produced a clone of the tested memory<br />
image is copied to all the devices made afterwards. This method ensures<br />
that the software of all devices is perfectly identical.<br />
Whereas this is a fast and efficient approach, it also entails that all devices<br />
have the same SID (computer security identifier) and computer name which<br />
some networks may have problems with.<br />
To avoid these problems there is a tool called "NewSID" whose job it is to give<br />
the system a unique new SID.<br />
Browse the <strong>Ventura</strong> <strong>IPC</strong> memory for folder 'C/Program Files/<strong>Ventura</strong> Tool' to<br />
locate the NewSID utility.<br />
• To use the tool run "newsid.exe" located in folder 'C/Program Files/<strong>Ventura</strong><br />
Tool'.<br />
• Readme file "NewSIDReadme.txt" contains further information on the<br />
tool.<br />
It may take a couple of minutes until a new SID has been assigned.<br />
