The flip side of Campbellsville, UW-W is playing its first home game of the season.
Whitewater opened 2011 with a 26-7 non-conference win at UW-La Crosse. The Warhawks held UW-L
to three first downs in the first half and 119 yards of total offense in the game. UW-W was 5-5 in red zone
situations, largely thanks to Eric Kindler’s school record tying 4-4 day kicking field goals.
In a matchup of ranked teams, Whitewater shut out number twenty-one Franklin College 45-0 at Franklin
last Saturday. Levell Coppage had his second 100+ rushing game, with all of his yards coming in the first
half. Matt Blanchard had another efficient game, hitting 13-18 for 128 yards and two touchdowns. UW-W
scored on five consecutive possessions over a seventeen minute span in the first half. Franklin, which
gained 669 yards in its season opener at Valparaiso, was limited to 198 by the Warhawk defense.
The Warhawks continue to build on their record-setting streaks. UW-W’s winning strings include: 32
overall (the longest streak in NCAA football, any division), 22 road games, 21 at Perkins Stadium, 18 nonconference,
17 WIAC, and ten in the NCAA III playoffs.
