UW-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, 2-0 and number one in the D3football.com poll, will open its home schedule Saturday at<br />
<strong>12</strong>:00 pm in Perkins Stadium, hosting Campbellsville University, 2-0 and ranked seventeenth in the<br />
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics poll.<br />
Last Year<br />
UW-W won 37-7 in Campbellsville September 18, 2010. The <strong>Warhawks</strong> scored <strong>to</strong>uchdowns their first<br />
three possessions and went in<strong>to</strong> the locker room with a 21-7 lead. <strong>Whitewater</strong> added a TD in the third,<br />
and a safety and a <strong>to</strong>uchdown in the fourth, for the final margin.<br />
For just the second time in school his<strong>to</strong>ry (the first was the previous week against Dakota State) UW-W<br />
had three backs rush for at least 100 yards. <strong>Book</strong>er Stanley carried 18 times for 116 yards, Levell<br />
Coppage 14-114, and Antwan Anderson 14-104. <strong>Whitewater</strong> averaged 6.7 yards per carry, piled up 531<br />
yards of offense, and controlled the ball almost 36 minutes. UW-W missed all four of its field goal<br />
attempts. CU quarterback Robert Hill completed <strong>12</strong>-19 passes <strong>to</strong> seven different receivers. Wide<br />
receiver Stan Warrenhuffman, who caught five passes for 68 yards last year, is back. Campbellsville<br />
safety Jeffrey DeMary led both teams with 13 tackles.<br />

2010 was the first meeting between the schools.<br />
The Coaches<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong>’s Lance Leipold has compiled a four year record of 59-3, with a record of 29-1 in the WIAC.<br />
In his first head coaching opportunity, Leipold has earned national Division III coach of the year honors<br />
three out of the four years and was named WIAC Football Coach of the Year in the last two.<br />
Campbellsville’s Perry Thomas is entering his fourth year as head coach. He has led the Tigers <strong>to</strong> a<br />
record of 19-17 during his tenure. Last year Thomas coached the Tigers <strong>to</strong> their first back-<strong>to</strong>-back winning<br />
seasons in nearly a decade.<br />
Campbellsville Notes<br />
Campbellsville opened the season with a 30-14 win at home over Union College (KY). Campbellsville<br />
trailed 10-7 in the second quarter. Senior QB Nathan Cooper, who sat out last season with a shoulder<br />
injury, completed 21-32 for 257 yards, with two interceptions and two <strong>to</strong>uchdowns in the Tigers’ four wide<br />
formation. Lone running back Wayne Coffee rushed 20 times for 149 yards, and tied the school record<br />
with three <strong>to</strong>uchdowns. The CU defense came up with six turnovers, twice ending Union drives with<br />
interceptions in the end zone. Senior linebacker Dwight Hous<strong>to</strong>n had 11 tackles, two tackles for a loss<br />
and two quarterback sacks. Freshman DB Leon Melvin picked off two passes.<br />
The Tigers scored an upset in game two, upending (NAIA) eighteenth-ranked Cumberland University 30-<br />
27. Melvin made the big plays again, blocking an extra point and a field goal attempt. Cooper went 22-<br />
42 for 249 yards, throwing for four scores with a pair of interceptions, and becoming just the second<br />
quarterback in school his<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong> eclipse 3,000 yards passing. Warrenhuffman caught nine passes for 146<br />
yards and three <strong>to</strong>uchdowns. Warrenhuffman moved in<strong>to</strong> second place in the school record book for<br />
career receptions (111) and third in receiving yards (1,597). DeMary was in on a dozen tackles for<br />
Campbellsville.<br />
Campbellsville is playing its first road game of the season.<br />
