After narrowly escaping with a vic<strong>to</strong>ry on the road against UW-Oshkosh 20-17 Saturday, the <strong>Warhawks</strong><br />
football team held on <strong>to</strong> its number one ranking in the D3football.com Poll and the AFCA Coaches’ Top<br />
25 Poll.<br />
The <strong>Warhawks</strong> received 20 of the 25 first place votes in the D3football.com poll. Mount Union once again<br />
held on<strong>to</strong> the number two spot, receiving the other five first place votes. In the AFCA Coaches’ Top 25,<br />
the <strong>Warhawks</strong> received 39 of the 42 first place votes, while Mount Union received the other three<br />
votes and was ranked second.<br />
UW-<strong>Whitewater</strong> (7-0, 4-0 WIAC) will host the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point (4-3, 2-2 WIA C) for the<br />
annual Homecoming game Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 29. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm. Tickets for all home games<br />
are available in the University Center ticket office Monday-Friday during normal business hours, and are<br />

This Week’s Game<br />
UW-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will host UW-<br />
Stevens Point, 4-3 and 2-2, at 1:00 Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 29 at Perkins Stadium.<br />
Last Year<br />
UW-W won 27-14 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 30, 2010 before 11,448 fans in Perkins Stadium. A Jake Hohlstein<br />
(Portage/Portage) fumble recovery on the Pointers’ 38, and 36 yards of Levell Coppage (Oak Park,<br />
IL/Oak Park) broke the scoreless tie. UW-W’s defense also led <strong>to</strong> the second score, with Jake Keeser<br />
(Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) picking up a fumble at the UW-SP six yard line. Matt Blanchard (Lake<br />
Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) and Bernie Tamsett (Waterford/Waterford Union) combined on a six yard passing<br />
play <strong>to</strong> go in<strong>to</strong> the lockerroom with a 14-0 lead. Midway through the third quarter Warhawk defensive<br />
back Steve McCollom (Farming<strong>to</strong>n, MI/Shrine) picked off a pass <strong>to</strong> give the <strong>Whitewater</strong> offense the ball at<br />
the Pointer 38. Aaron Rusch (Hartford/Hartford) <strong>to</strong>ok an end around play <strong>to</strong> the one and Coppage scored<br />
on a one yard run <strong>to</strong> make it 21-0 midway through the third. UW-SP got on the board with a Jake Swank<br />
<strong>to</strong> Anthony Aker 60 yard pass play <strong>to</strong> make it 21-7. Eric Kindler (German<strong>to</strong>wn/German<strong>to</strong>wn) booted a 19<br />
yard field goal <strong>to</strong> put UW -W up 24-7, but Point’ running back Keith Ingram’s 47 yard run was the key play<br />
on a drive that cut <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s lead <strong>to</strong> 24-14 at the end of three. Kindler added another FG in the fourth<br />
for the final score. Coppage rushed 38 times for 179 yards, and receivers Aaron Rusch<br />
(Hartford/Hartford) (5-57) and Adam Brandes (Burling<strong>to</strong>n/Catholic Central) (4-93) kept defenders honest.<br />
Max Ford (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park River Forest) led the UW-W defense with six tackles, a sack and one<br />
tackle for a loss. UW-SP’s Swank went 10-30, with six caught by Jared Jenkins. Ingram wound up with<br />
80 yards on seven carries. Point DB Joe Mleziva led both team with 14 tackles, nine of them solo.<br />
