Warhawks Tabbed for Preseason Honors<br />

Warhawk football, the defending National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III national champions,<br />
<strong>to</strong>p the preseason rankings in two national polls. The Sporting News Top 25 and Lindy’s Sports Division<br />
III Top 25 each have <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> as number one picks for the 2011 season. Warhawks Levell<br />
Coppage, Logan Allemand and Greg Arnold each earned spots on the Sporting News Division III<br />
Preseason All-America Team and Coppage added Lindy’s Sports 2011 All-DIII Team honors.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-W has advanced <strong>to</strong> the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the Division III national championship game, six<br />
consecutive years -- winning three of the last four. <strong>Whitewater</strong> has the longest active winning streak<br />
in NCAA football in any division, with 30 consecutive wins. <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> will be looking for its seventh<br />
consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 2011.<br />
Running back Levell Coppage (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park) was named <strong>to</strong> Sporting News’ Division III All-<br />
American and Lindy’s Sports 2011 All-Division III Offensive Teams. Coppage rushed for 2,107 yards,<br />
averaging 6.3 yards per carry in 2010. He scored 25 <strong>to</strong>uchdowns, adding <strong>to</strong> his school and WIAC<br />
records for career <strong>to</strong>uchdowns, now at 81. Coppage earned MVP honors with his performance at the<br />
Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl after breaking the bowl record with 299 rushing yards. Coppage is a three-time<br />
First Team All-American and was named conference MVP the last two seasons.<br />
Logan Allemand (Kenosha/Tremper) will be <strong>UW</strong>-W’s most experienced offensive lineman in<br />
2011. Allemand contributed <strong>to</strong> the <strong>to</strong>p ranked scoring and rushing offense in the WIAC in 2010. The<br />
Warhawks scored an average of 40.2 per game, rushed for an average of 271.7 yards per game with <strong>to</strong>tal<br />
offense averaging 470.9 yards per game. Last year <strong>Whitewater</strong> ranked among the <strong>to</strong>p ten in NCAA<br />
Division III in rushing offense and <strong>to</strong>tal offense.<br />
Greg Arnold (Big Bend/Mukwonago) was a part of a defensive team that <strong>to</strong>pped WIAC rankings in scoring<br />
defense, allowing 11.8 points per game, rushing defense with 46.6 yards per game, and <strong>to</strong>tal defense<br />
with 249.2 yards per game. <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s <strong>to</strong>tal defense ranked thirteenth in the NCAA DIII in<br />
2010. Arnold <strong>to</strong>taled 78 tackles with two interceptions for 65 yards in his junior year.<br />
The Warhawks will begin 2011 season on the road against <strong>UW</strong>-La Crosse Saturday, September 3 at<br />
6:00. <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s first home game is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 at noon against<br />
Campbellsville University.<br />

University of Wisconsin-<strong>Whitewater</strong> linebacker Lane Olson (Racine/Horlick) has been chosen <strong>to</strong> represent<br />
the United States as a member of the national team at the International Federation of American Football<br />
Senior World Championship July 8-16 in Austria.<br />
As of June 30, 2011…Olson has decided not <strong>to</strong> pursue the opportunity <strong>to</strong> play with the USA squad <strong>to</strong><br />
instead vie for a roster spot on a UFL team.<br />
