<strong>Whitewater</strong>’s Levell Coppage (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park), the focus of the Titan defense, was held<br />

under 100 yards---until he broke a 47 yard run <strong>to</strong> the 3 yard line. Kindler followed with the game-winning<br />

17-yard field goal at 1:18.<br />

With little time remaining, Oshkosh <strong>to</strong>ok over on their 20. Advancing <strong>to</strong> the <strong>UW</strong>-W 40 on a third and<br />

thirteen play, Wara threw in<strong>to</strong> the endzone, where he was intercepted by Ryan Wenkman<br />

(Wisconsin Dells/Wisconsin Dells) <strong>to</strong> keep <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s streak alive.<br />

362. Blanchard went 17-25 for 209 yards with Huber catching 7 of those balls for <strong>12</strong>7 yards. Wara was<br />

17-33 for 148 yards. Both quarterbacks contributed <strong>to</strong> their team’s yardage on the ground. Blanchard<br />

rushed 14 times for a career high 91 yards and Wara had 14 carries for 54 yards. Coppage lead both<br />

teams with 131 yards on 28 carries, moving him within 54 of breaking Justin Beaver’s <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong><br />

and WIAC career record. Garrie Fox lead the Titans with 7 receptions for 50 yards. The defensive<br />

leaders were <strong>UW</strong>-W sophomore linebacker Kyle Wismer (Spring Grove, IL/Richmond-Bur<strong>to</strong>n),<br />

with 10 tackles and <strong>UW</strong>-O junior defensive back Austin Blashka, also with 10 tackles.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> will host its annual Homecoming celebration and Hall of Fame game next Saturday,<br />

Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 29. Kickoff at Perkins Stadium is 1:00. Tickets for home games can be purchased at the<br />

University Center ticket office Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Tickets will also be available<br />

at Perkins Stadium on game day.<br />

Warhawks Earn Record Seventh Straight Title as Coppage<br />

NOTE: With results of Saturday’s late games in, <strong>UW</strong>-W has clinched at least a tie for the Wisconsin<br />

Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship --- a record seventh straight title for the Warhawks.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> had shared the mark with <strong>UW</strong>-La Crosse, which won six consecutive crowns 1949-54. The<br />

seven conference championships in a row also ties the Warhawk wrestling team, which won seven titles<br />

between 1974 and 1980, for the longest streak by any <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> intercollegiate sport.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and ranked<br />

number one in the Division III polls, defeated <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point 31-16, 4-4 and 2-3, at Perkins Stadium<br />

Saturday as Warhawk senior tailback Levell Coppage (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park) made several record book<br />

entries. The Warhawks extended their college football leading win streak <strong>to</strong> 38 games, including 25 in a<br />

row at home and 22 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The 38 game streak moves<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> in<strong>to</strong> sixth place for the longest win streak in NCAA his<strong>to</strong>ry, passing Augustana (1983-85), and<br />

Yale (1890-93, 1987-89).<br />

Coppage, with 245 yards on 29 carries against the Pointers, has rushed for 1,101 yards this season, the<br />

first back in <strong>UW</strong>-W and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference his<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong> rush for 1,000 yards all<br />

four years of his career. It also gives him 6,776 yards in his career, replacing former Warhawk Justin<br />

Beaver as the school and WIAC career rushing leader. And it moves Coppage in<strong>to</strong> third place in the<br />

NCAA III record book for career rushing. The 245 yards is his season high, <strong>to</strong>pping the 168 he gained<br />
