Assistant Coach Nelson Edmonds Edmonds returns to Whitewater for a sixteenth year on the Warhawk coaching staff, serving again as running backs coach as well as the special teams coordinator. After graduating from Madison East High School, Edmonds attended Northern Michigan University where he was an allconference running back. Edmonds also works as an assistant director in UW-Whitewater’s Academic Advising and Exploration Center. He spent the 2006-07 academic year in an advising position at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Edmonds, with wife Amy, resides in Whitewater with two daughters, Alisendra and Matiana. Assistant Coach Kevin Bullis Kevin Bullis is entering his fourth season working with the Warhawk defense. Prior to joining the Warhawk team, he served as the defensive coordinator for UW-River Falls. Bullis was with UW-River Falls from 1995 through 2007, leading the Falcon defense to the top ranking in the WIAC in 1999. Before coaching at River Falls he was the defensive coordinator at Gustavus Adolphus College for two seasons. He did his first tour of duty with the Falcons from 1990-1993 serving as linebackers coach. During that first stint Bullis coached four all-conference linebackers, two All-American linebackers, and helped the Falcons achieve the number one defense in the WSUC in 1992. Bullis graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris with a bachelor’s degree in social science and secondary education, then added a master’s in history from UW-River Falls. Bullis and his wife Kathy have three children, Jake, JoJo, and Emme. Assistant Coach Josh Gehring Josh Gehring enters his second year as the quarterback coach and pass game coordinator for the Warhawk football team. As offensive coordinator, Gehring helped guide Morningside into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics playoffs in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The Mustangs went from averaging 24 points per game to 36.1 (2007), to 48 (2008) and finally 45.1 (2009). Morningside averaged over 400 yards per game during his three years as the school's offensive coordinator, with Morningside's quarterbacks completing more than 60% of their passes all three seasons. After the 2009 season he was named the American Football Coaches Association NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year. Gehring's coaching career began as the tight ends coach at his alma mater, Ottawa University (KS). That was followed by working as the quarterbacks coach at Rock Bridge High School (MO). His resume includes stops as special teams coordinator and QB coach at Manchester College (IN), tight end coach of Western Kentucky, run game coordinator at Missouri State University, and defensive coordinator at Concordia University (IL). 152

In addition to his football duties Gehring also teaches in the HPRC department. Gehring, his wife Jennifer, and their daughter Jersey live in Whitewater. Assistant Coach Thomas Karthauser Tom Karthausser enters his fourth season on the UW-W coaching staff. An alumnus of UW-Whitewater, Karthausser earned four varsity letters playing defensive back for the Warhawks during his 2000-2003 seasons under head coach Bob Berezowitz. During his senior season at Whitewater, Tom was elected as the team’s defensive captain by his teammates. Upon graduating from Whitewater, Karthausser began coaching high school football within the North Shore Conference. During the 2004 and 2005 seasons, he coached the varsity defensive backs at Whitefish Bay High School in 2006 and 2007; he served as Nicolet High School’s defensive coordinator at the varsity level. Karthausser also grabbed some head coaching experience during this time, serving as the interim head coach for Milwaukee’s expansion team in the Continental Indoor Football League for nine weeks during the 2008 season, leading the team to their first victory in franchise history Karthausser is an academic advisor to the UW-W’s Academic Advising and Exploration, and lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Karthausser and his wife, Andrea live in East Troy, WI. Assistant Coach Jace Rindahl Jace Rindahl enters his third season on the Warhawk coaching staff after completing a highly successful collegiate playing career at UW-W. In Rindahl’s four years as a linebacker, the Warhawks won four conference championships and reached four national championship games. The Warhawks won the national title in 2007 while Rindahl contributed to a defense that ranked first in the WIAC in scoring defense, rushing defense, total defense, sacks, interceptions, and pass defense efficiency. In 2008 Rindahl was named Defensive Player of the Year by D3football.com and also received All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association. For his career Rindahl is mentioned in several career categories in the UW-W record book including: eighth in interceptions (11), fourth in return yards after interception (218), and ninth in tackles (248). Assistant Coach Mitch Moore Mitchell Moore rejoins the Warhawk football staff after spending three years in the high school ranks. An alumnus of UW-Whitewater, Moore earned three varsity letters and the 2007 Forest Perkins Award. A wide receiver from 2004-07, he was part of three national finalist teams and helped the team to Whitewater’s first national title in 2007. 153
