The Warhawks own the nation’s longest football win streak -- in any level of four year college football.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W, NCAA III champions in 2009 and 2010, has won 35 consecutive games, more than any NCAA<br />

FBS, NCAA FCS, NCAA II, or NAIA school. <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s streak is not only longer but it is almost three<br />

times longer than the next team. Here are the longest current streaks in college football:<br />

University of Wisconsin-<strong>Whitewater</strong> (NCAA III): 35<br />

Stanford University (FBS): <strong>12</strong> (play Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 8 at 6:30 pm)<br />

Washburn University, Wayne State (NCAA II): 10<br />

Sam Hous<strong>to</strong>n State (FCS): 6 (game on Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 8 was not yet complete)<br />

NAIA (Carroll of Montana had the longest streak snapped at 15 with a September 10 loss)<br />

Next up for <strong>UW</strong>-W will be <strong>UW</strong>-S<strong>to</strong>ut who comes <strong>to</strong> Perkins Stadium in <strong>Whitewater</strong> for a WIAC matchup on<br />

Friday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 14. The game is a 7:00 pm start and a fireworks display will be held following the game.<br />

Tickets for <strong>UW</strong>-W home games are sold at the University Center ticket office Monday -Friday during<br />

normal business hours.<br />

Warhawks Remain #1 In National Polls<br />

After a 42-10 vic<strong>to</strong>ry at <strong>UW</strong>-River Falls Saturday, the <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> Warhawk football team maintained<br />

their number one ranking in both the D3football.com Top 25 and AFCA D-III Coaches’ Top 25 polls.<br />

In the D3football.com poll, <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> received 21 of the 25 possible first-place votes. Mount Union<br />

received the remaining four votes for the number two spot. The Warhawks also <strong>to</strong>ok 39 of the 42 possible<br />

first-place votes in the AFCA Coaches’ Poll <strong>to</strong> stay at number one. No. 2 Mount Union received the<br />

other 3 votes.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> (5-0, 2-0 WIAC) will host <strong>UW</strong>-S<strong>to</strong>ut (3-2, 1-1 WIAC) under the lights Friday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 14.<br />

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The game is being billed as “Friday Night Lights” with special in game activity and<br />

postgame fireworks.<br />

On Friday Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 14 at 7:00 pm, <strong>UW</strong> Residence Life is sponsoring Friday Night Lights: <strong>UW</strong>-W vs. <strong>UW</strong>-<br />

S<strong>to</strong>ut at Perkins Stadium.<br />

There will be a free tailgate prior <strong>to</strong> kickoff for all <strong>UW</strong>-W students with a valid school ID, located between<br />

the softball facility and the Perkins Stadium parking lot. Free food and beverages will be available on a<br />

first come, first serve basis. Students will also be able <strong>to</strong> get prepared for the game at the spirit station,<br />

where free face and body paint, beads, Warhawk tat<strong>to</strong>os, and purple and white hairspray will be offered.<br />

In addition, students can take a picture with the National Championship Trophy. The highlight of the<br />

tailgate will be a bean bag <strong>to</strong>urnament sponsored by Northwestern Mutual, including cash prizes given <strong>to</strong><br />

the first, second, and third place teams by Northwestern Mutual. To enter, contact Leah Thyne at<br />
