important figure in the dance-music culture,
the DJ has developed from “a guy in

rock star status, DJs and the music they
transform have retained their sub-culture
coolness while fueling an international
phenomenon. Commentaries from the
world’s premier DJs are woven together to
tell the history of house music from its
humble beginnings in a New York nightclub
to the current day festivals that draw

About the Director~Taylor Neary began her career as an
actor in theater, film, and television. Originally from New
York City, she moved to Los Angeles to attend University
of Southern California’s film school, graduating with
a BA in cinema/television production. Taylor has also
written and directed several short films including

Montrealer Jo is looking for Leonard—
Leonard Cohen, that is—as an escape
from her hopelessly dull life. An aspiring
writer, she attends fiction writing classes
with friend Monica (Molly Parker) and
reads Leonard Cohen paperbacks while
her drone-like boyfriend Ted and his
younger brother Johnny wallow in front of
the television. Without jobs, Jo, Ted, and
Johnny make their money burgling from dry
cleaners and corner stores. When Ted and
Johnny want to take their thievery to the
next level (robbing banks) Jo is not interested.
She tries to talk them out of it, but
to no avail; the brothers leave to commit
their first big-time robbery. Alone for the
weekend, she meets Czech computer programmer
Luka, who has the potential to
reinvigorate her life if not leaving it in
shambles. LOOKING FOR LEONARD, the
debut effort of Canadian filmmakers Matt
Bissonnette and Steven Clark, entertains
with a biting script, distinctive cinematography,
a promising cast, and archival

About the Directors~Montreal born Matt Bissonnette
studied English and Film at Concordia University before
receiving a law degree from Queen’s University. After two
weeks, he quit law and switched to film. After attending
Concordia University, Steven Clark traveled the world,
teaching, bartending, and working as a DJ in Japan.

Love has its price in modern-day Jakarta
and it requires a lot of sharing if you are a
woman. In three distinct stories that bleed
into each other, three women find various
solutions to their dilemmas of sharing a
husband with other wives. Salma, a well-todo
doctor married to a politician, becomes
a saintly Muslim wife when she learns of
her husband’s other wives, children, and
households. Young, beautiful Siti finds
love of a different sort when she comes to
Jakarta, marries a man with two other
wives, and lives in a two-bedroom slum
with a never-ending stream of children
and laundry. And Ming, a waitress with an
acting career in mind, becomes the secret,
second wife to her boss. Their lives intersect
in the briefest ways, but they all
balance their needs, loyalties, and passions
with humor and heartache. The tsunami of
2004 wreaks havoc in the background—a
real-life symbol of the upheaval and change
