Van (’79) and Renae (’80) Parham live <strong>in</strong> Colleyville.<br />

Van has practiced general dentistry for 25 years <strong>in</strong> Irv<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Van and Renae have two sons, <strong>the</strong> oldest one hav<strong>in</strong>g graduated<br />

with a BS degree <strong>in</strong> zoology/biomedical science. He<br />

plans <strong>to</strong> attend graduate school at SHSU study<strong>in</strong>g Forensic<br />

Science. Their youngest son is a freshman at University<br />

of Oklahoma. Renae plans <strong>to</strong> attend <strong>the</strong> SHSU Zeta Tau<br />

Alpha 50 th Reunion <strong>in</strong> April.<br />

Cynthia Coll<strong>in</strong>s Williams (’80) shared with us that<br />

she and husband Michael celebrated <strong>the</strong>ir 27th wedd<strong>in</strong>g<br />

anniversary on March 20. Their oldest daughter, Cortnie,<br />

graduated from SHSU’s College of Education and is a<br />

special education teacher at Clark Intermediate School<br />

<strong>in</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>g. Their youngest daughter, Michelle, is a junior<br />

honor roll student at Carl Wunsche Senior High School,<br />

a career academy <strong>in</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>g. She is follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Career<br />

Pathway of Secondary Education. Michelle is a star volleyball<br />

player for Westfield and wants <strong>to</strong> be a secondary<br />

coach. Cynthia and Michael are proud parents.<br />

Curtis L. Edwards (’81) is an IT support technician at<br />

South Eastern Institute, Dallas campus. He is a member<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Student Advisor Council at South Eastern and <strong>in</strong><br />

his free time runs a computer repair bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />

Charles W. Jones III (’81) attended <strong>the</strong> 2009 Dallas<br />

Military Ball <strong>in</strong> April where <strong>the</strong> Chairman of <strong>the</strong> Jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />

Chiefs of Staff was <strong>the</strong> guest speaker. He also attended<br />

<strong>the</strong> SHSU Alumni Service Awards Luncheon and Ceremony<br />

on April 24 where he gave <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>vocation. Charles<br />

is a member of <strong>the</strong> SHSU Alumni Association Board of<br />

Direc<strong>to</strong>rs and <strong>the</strong> COBA Advisory Council. He and<br />

wife Lena have established two annual scholarships—<strong>the</strong><br />

Thelma Jean Barnes Townley Scholarship <strong>in</strong> Theatre<br />

& Arts, <strong>in</strong> honor of his mo<strong>the</strong>r, and a Men’s Lacrosse<br />

scholarship.<br />

Kenneth Ross (’81) and wife Debra have five children-<br />

Kenneth Ross II, Kendra, Kendal, An<strong>to</strong><strong>in</strong>e and Anthony.<br />

Kenneth has been an agent with <strong>State</strong> Farm for 23 years<br />

and received many awards such as Lone Star Leader,<br />

Millionaire Traveler, Century Club member <strong>in</strong> Life &<br />

Health Insurance, and Select Agent for <strong>State</strong> Farm. He<br />

was appo<strong>in</strong>ted by Governor Perry <strong>to</strong> be on <strong>the</strong> board of<br />

direc<strong>to</strong>rs for ABTPA <strong>in</strong> 2008. Kenneth currently serves<br />

on <strong>the</strong> board of direc<strong>to</strong>rs for <strong>the</strong> SHSU Alumni Association.<br />

He writes that he had <strong>the</strong> pleasure of see<strong>in</strong>g old<br />

classmates Leonard Williams, Andrew Simpson, and<br />

Anna Bell Lopez recently at a wedd<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Association on March 1, 2009, along with Willie Nelson,<br />

Guy Clark and Michael Mart<strong>in</strong> Murphy. This honor was<br />

well deserved after writ<strong>in</strong>g such hits as “He Walked on Water”<br />

performed by Randy Travis, “Walk on Faith” by Mike<br />

Reid, “Life’s a Dance” by John Michael Montgomery, and<br />

“Where <strong>the</strong> Black<strong>to</strong>p Ends” by Keith Urban, just <strong>to</strong> name a<br />

few of <strong>the</strong> great songs he has written. Allen graduated<br />

with a market<strong>in</strong>g degree but always had a love for songwrit<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and we are very glad he pursued his love s<strong>in</strong>ce he<br />

has given us a long list of wonderful songs <strong>to</strong> enjoy. Allen<br />

currently resides <strong>in</strong> Tennessee with his wife, Lori, and<br />

Karen E. Smith (’83) cont<strong>in</strong>ues <strong>to</strong> teach <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Career<br />

& Technology department at Splendora High School and<br />

has been with Splendora ISD for 24 years. She teaches<br />

Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Computer Information Systems 1 & 2, Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Management, and is <strong>the</strong> FBLA Advisor and <strong>the</strong> Microsoft<br />

Office Specialist Test Adm<strong>in</strong>istra<strong>to</strong>r.<br />

Mark Beedlow (’84) has led <strong>the</strong> Dallas Regional Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Center of Wachovia <strong>to</strong> two consecutive nom<strong>in</strong>ations<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Chairman’s Cup which is <strong>the</strong> highest honor of<br />

2009. Mark, along with his office staff, was runner up for<br />

<strong>the</strong> 2008 President’s Cup and he was given one of two<br />

Wachovia Dealer Services Leadership Awards which is <strong>the</strong><br />

highest award an <strong>in</strong>dividual can receive <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> company.<br />

Mark lettered <strong>in</strong> football under Coach Ron Randleman.<br />

He and his wife Jennifer have a son, Matt, and a daughter,<br />

<strong>Sam</strong>antha.<br />

David Zuniga (’86) is married <strong>to</strong> Huntsville native,<br />

Rebecca Garcia, and has been retired from IRS/CID<br />

s<strong>in</strong>ce 2007. David spent 20 years as a special agent posted<br />

<strong>in</strong> Beaumont, Laredo, New Orleans and Brunswick, GA.<br />

While at <strong>the</strong> Brunswick duty station, David worked at <strong>the</strong><br />

Federal Law Enforcement Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Center and traveled<br />

<strong>to</strong> Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>vestigative techniques. David currently<br />

owns <strong>the</strong> Stardust Room Restaurant and Bar <strong>in</strong><br />

Huntsville. He is <strong>the</strong> board treasurer for <strong>the</strong> Huntsville<br />

Down<strong>to</strong>wn Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Alliance. Wife Rebecca is employed<br />

with UT Medical Branch-Texas Department of Crim<strong>in</strong>al<br />

Justice and <strong>the</strong>y have three daughters, ages 29, 22, and 19<br />

years of age.<br />

Juan A. Enriquez (’86) writes that after liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

Seattle, he has now relocated <strong>to</strong> Bloom<strong>in</strong>g<strong>to</strong>n, IL with<br />

<strong>State</strong> Farm Insurance. Juan has been with <strong>State</strong> Farm for<br />

21 years and has traveled extensively <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> US. He has a 15<br />

year old son and frequently comes <strong>to</strong> Hous<strong>to</strong>n <strong>to</strong> visit his<br />

mo<strong>the</strong>r. Juan hopes <strong>to</strong> retire <strong>in</strong> 15 years even though he has<br />

enjoyed many career opportunities and accomplishments.<br />

He stays <strong>in</strong> <strong>to</strong>uch with fellow Bearkat Eric Mestayer,<br />

who worked with Juan at STRUTZ as a bartender dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir college years.<br />

Barbara Frazier (’87) is still teach<strong>in</strong>g web design and<br />

computer applications <strong>to</strong> students at Magnolia High<br />

School. This is Barbara’s 15th year and she is still enjoy<strong>in</strong>g<br />

teenagers tremendously.<br />

Steve Tierney (’87) recently became <strong>the</strong> new men’s and<br />

women’s golf coach at West Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Wesleyan College.<br />

In addition, Steve has been <strong>the</strong> head women’s basketball<br />

coach at WVWC for <strong>the</strong> past six seasons.<br />

Janelle Sumner (’88) writes that she completed her<br />

MBA at University of Dallas <strong>in</strong> 2004. She currently<br />

works at Blue Cross/Blue Shield as an Employee Relations<br />

Consultant and has held this position for <strong>the</strong> last<br />

four years. She loves travel<strong>in</strong>g and last year went <strong>to</strong> Spa<strong>in</strong>,<br />

France, Italy, and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>to</strong> Hawaii for Christmas. Janelle<br />

has three grown children. Her daughter graduated from<br />

SHSU with a degree <strong>in</strong> Crim<strong>in</strong>al Justice and her youngest<br />

son recently left <strong>the</strong> Mar<strong>in</strong>es after six years and a <strong>to</strong>ur <strong>in</strong><br />

Afghanistan.<br />

Rick (BBA ’94, MBA ’96) and Ramona (BA ’91,<br />

MBA ’96) Michael write from K<strong>in</strong>gwood that Rick<br />

has recently switched jobs from Wachovia <strong>to</strong> Skill Soft<br />

and is excited about his new opportunity. Ramona is<br />

PTA president and still a full-time stay-at-home mom.<br />

She is consider<strong>in</strong>g runn<strong>in</strong>g for <strong>the</strong> school board. Rick<br />

and Ramona express <strong>the</strong>ir sadness due <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> loss of <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

beloved uncle, Ted E. Michael, who faithfully served<br />

SHSU as Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Human Resources for many years.<br />

“He was a wonderful, lov<strong>in</strong>g person and we miss him every<br />

day.” Rick and Ramona would love <strong>to</strong> hear from fellow<br />

Monty Clark (’90) formed and created a new civil<br />

eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g firm <strong>in</strong> Temple <strong>in</strong> 2008. The name of <strong>the</strong> firm<br />

is Clark & Fuller Civil Consultants. They offer a broad<br />

Tonia N. Cox (’91) <strong>in</strong>formed us that after be<strong>in</strong>g laid off<br />

by Hope for <strong>the</strong> Heart last May, she has been blessed with<br />

two jobs. In December, she was hired as a tax professional<br />

by H&R Block. In February, she began employment as an<br />

account<strong>in</strong>g supervisor for USA Compression Partners,<br />

LLC. She is excited and feels very blessed <strong>to</strong> hold <strong>the</strong>se<br />

positions.<br />

Susan Trobaugh Mueller (’91) worked for Waste<br />

Management for 13 years <strong>in</strong> hazardous waste as “national<br />

account representative”. She is presently work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

same field for Ely Environmental, LLC . Susan, a divorced<br />

mom, enjoys be<strong>in</strong>g able <strong>to</strong> work from home s<strong>in</strong>ce she has<br />

three active children, ages 17, 11, and 9. Her children are<br />

active <strong>in</strong> soccer, cheerlead<strong>in</strong>g and gymnastics. “Children<br />

are costly and I thank my parents for my bus<strong>in</strong>ess degree<br />

from SHSU.” Susan is engaged <strong>to</strong> Ed Savisky, fa<strong>the</strong>r of<br />

one son.<br />

Ed Bounds (’92) states that he feels very blessed <strong>to</strong> have<br />

been a successful entrepreneur for <strong>the</strong> past 18 years with<br />

three separate bus<strong>in</strong>esses. Currently he and his wife Tonya<br />

own an <strong>in</strong>ternet bus<strong>in</strong>ess-The Superior Home Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Consultants/Executive Income Onl<strong>in</strong>e. They have three<br />

Calv<strong>in</strong> D. Bonner (’95) resides <strong>in</strong> Plano where he<br />

Jay Tchamanzar (’96) emailed <strong>Dr</strong>. Valerie <strong>Muehsam</strong><br />

<strong>to</strong> say hello and how much he enjoyed her bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

analysis class. He is a manag<strong>in</strong>g direc<strong>to</strong>r with Axes Capital<br />

LLC <strong>in</strong> Hous<strong>to</strong>n.<br />

Teresa Hill (’97) graduated <strong>in</strong> December from <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Hous<strong>to</strong>n-Clearlake with a Masters of<br />

David S<strong>to</strong>dghill (’97) and his wife Rosmarily have been<br />

married for eight years and have a four year old daughter<br />

named Sofia. They live <strong>in</strong> Stafford. David currently works<br />

for Worley Parsons, an eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g company where he<br />

has worked for 2 ½ years <strong>in</strong> Project Controls. He has been<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustry for 11 years. David and his family enjoy<br />

go<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> YMCA, <strong>the</strong> park, <strong>the</strong> zoo, shopp<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

watch<strong>in</strong>g movies. Sofia will start school next year. David<br />

Chris Sower (MBA’99) and L<strong>in</strong>h Nguyen (MBA’08)<br />

co-authored a paper with <strong>Dr</strong>. Vic Sower that was presented<br />

at <strong>the</strong> 94th Annual International Supply Management<br />

Conference <strong>in</strong> Charlotte, NC on May 4th. The paper<br />

was entitled “Gett<strong>in</strong>g Industry-Specific Cost Models <strong>to</strong><br />

Work for You.”
