A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT & CEO
Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more exciting, 2011 certainly
established itself as one of the most exciting in our Association’s history.
The year started with a notable accomplishment: We opened the Battenkill Branch
in Greenwich, on January 19th. Reaching out to Greenwich and the surrounding
communities was a mission commitment by the Saratoga Regional yMCA. The
communities of Greenwich and Cambridge both had approached yMCA of the uSA
to have a yMCA in their respective communities. After meeting with representatives
from y-uSA, the volunteers of those communities recognized they did not have the
financial or staff resources to establish/build a yMCA. Further discussions with y-uSA
resulted in the Saratoga Regional yMCA being brought into the discussions, due to its
proximity to these communities. After much research and analysis, it was determined
that the former iGA site on Main Street in the Greenwich was the perfect fit. While we
expected a warm response from those communities, we were nonetheless surprised by
the enormous enthusiasm with which the new y was greeted. We met our membership
goal in seven weeks! At this point, we have over 2,000 members from the Greenwich
service area who are either Association members or members of the Battenkill Branch.
We couldn’t be more pleased.
in the latter part of the year, we began Phase 1 of the Wilton Branch addition and
renovation. Phase 1, involved the construction of four new tennis courts, kicked-off
August 29th and opened December 10th. This brings our total number of tennis
courts to eight. in an exemplary partnership between two non-profits, Skidmore
College collaborated with the yMCA on this project, donating $1,000,000 towards
Phase 1. As we move to Phase 1i of the Wilton Branch, we begin with no debt, having
raised funds and paid off the mortgages of both the Battenkill Branch and Phase 1
of the Wilton Branch. This has been the highly successful philosophy of this yMCA
for the past decade. Pay off all debt from a previous project before starting another.
We anticipate starting Phase 1i of the Wilton Branch in 2012, with completion slated
for 2013. Phase 1i will include a year-round gymnastics center, childcare and BASE
(before and after school) programs, a fitness center with focus on functional training,
warm yoga/Pilates, cycling, basketball, aerobics, babysitting, locker rooms, and a new
lobby. We are undertaking this important addition to the Wilton facility to reduce
demand on our present facilities and to accommodate future program growth.
it has been an extraordinary year of accomplishments and we want to thank you, our
members, for making it all happen.

BATTENKILL BRANCh
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
On January 19, 2011, the Saratoga Regional yMCA
celebrated the opening of their fifth branch with a ribbon
cutting ceremony.
The Battenkill facility consists of 8,600 square feet of
space and includes an aerobics studio—which provides
health and wellness programs such as cycling, Zumba ®
and other adult classes, as well as youth oriented classes
such as Kidz Hiphop, Roc-n-Tots, yogaKidz and Teen
Lifting. Over 27 pieces of cardio vascular and 16 pieces
of strength training equipment, in addition to a large
free weight area, round out the facility.
The new branch also includes a babysitting room, with
supervised child care, that provides age-appropriate
activities such as free play, reading and crafts.
in 2011, the Battenkill Branch surpassed it’s goal for the
year with 922 units of membership.

SARATOGA SPRINGS BRANCh
BABYSITTING
While parents enjoy a workout,
children are able to play and have
some fun of their own in the
Babysitting Room. From crafts,
free play, gym time, or playing
on the playground, children
are entertained, cared for and
supervised by the y Babysitting
Staff. During the summer we have
Kids Club for the older children
who come to babysitting, where
we have more age appropriate
activities for them.
Other programs, such as Parents
Night Out i, Parents Night Out ii,
Sunday Shoppers and Little Elves,
were also offered through our
Babysitting program. By offering
more programs and extended
hours we have increased our
usage by families in Babysitting
at both the Wilton Branch and the
Saratoga Springs Branch.
PRESChOOL
252 students, including 66
universal Pre-K students,
thrived in this year’s preschool.
The program was enhanced by
Spanish lessons as well as several
new exciting field trips. The
students’ year-long involvement
in our Preschool Healthy Kids
activities helped emphasize the
values of the yMCA’s Activate
America Program and its four
core values.
EARLY ChILDhOOD
SUMMER PROGRAMS
165 children extended the fun
and learning of the Preschool
school year by attending the Early
Childhood Summer Enrichment
program throughout July. Another
140 children enjoyed indoor
and outdoor fun throughout
the summer in our Project Play
Program.
The popular Theater Workshop
once again entertained family
members with terrific weekly
performances in self-made
costumes and student-designed
sets.
TRAVEL CAMP
Travel camp is held at the
Saratoga Springs Branch for
children 9-16 years old. During
the 9 summer weeks, we served
685 campers at an average of 76
per week.
SChOOL AGE PROGRAMS
We have approximately 280
program participants. Every child
has at least ½ hour of physical
activity in both the morning and
afternoon programs and we serve
healthy snacks.
We have five morning and
afternoon sites: Caroline Street,
Dorothy Nolan, Lake Avenue, the
Saratoga Springs Branch and
Wood Road Elementary.
YOUTh AND FAMILY
Our ballet program experienced
much growth during 2011, as we
added three new dance programs
to keep the momentum going.
Advanced Micro-Soccer was
added and has quickly become
one of our most popular youth
sports classes.
Our Small Shots and Junior Shots
basketball class participants
dramatically increased in 2011.
We have also added youth
volleyball and Healthy Habits
classes.
BIRThDAY PARTIES
During 2011 the Saratoga
Springs Branch hosted over 120
birthday parties for children and
their families. Guests enjoyed
swim parties, gym parties and
new Bouncy Bounce parties!
AqUATICS
This program continues serving
approximately 250 children per
session in skill specific swim
lessons.
Our swim team, of approximately
80 swimmers, had an outstanding
2011 season. Nearly 60 swimmers
qualified for yMCA League
Championships.
We now collaborate with the
American Red Cross to offer CPR
classes to the community.
hEALTh AND wELLNESS
This past year, we increased
our Personal Training sessions
from 3,349 sessions in 2010 to
4,643 sessions.
We also replaced all of the free
weights to a variety which are fully
encased in urethane- this creates
a much quieter environment in the
Wellness Center.
BATTENKILL BRANCh
We opened our fifth branch in
Greenwich on January 19, 2011
and surpassed our membership
goals within the first seven weeks
with 922 units of membership.
in 2011, we were able to offer
28 adult group exercise classes,
a number which has since grown.
We offered 5 weekly youth fitness
classes.
We also took over the after
school program at Greenwich
Central School, where we had
over 20 children attending the
program, either 3 or 5 days a
week.
CORINTh BRANCh
in August, 2011, the Hudson
River Community Credit union
generously donated 6 HP
computers and accessories to
the Corinth Branch. Those new
additions were placed in the y’s
Teen Fit Program room.
MALTA BRANCh
MALTA FITNESS
We added a variety of new
cardio and fitness equipment. in
2011, we removed the Member
Service Desk to improve member
relations. We also began offering
SilverSneaker classes.
MALTA ChILD CARE
2011 marked another successful
year of enrollment at or near
maximum capacity of 75 children
for our Child Care.
Our New york State license was
successfully renewed and we are
in compliance for another 4 years.
We continued offering the
KinderGym program and
swimming program to our 4 year
olds. We also added a 14-week
gymnastics program to the 4 year
olds at no additional cost to the
families.
wILTON BRANCh
hEALTh AND wELLNESS
We added a variety of new cardio
and fitness equipment and
performed 522 Personal Training
Sessions.
We offered the first of 4 in-
Service Trainings to all Health and
Wellness staff, association-wide.
in 2011, we were able to increase
our Active Older Adult class
participation by an average of 7
people per class.
TENNIS
We doubled the number of tennis
courts at the Wilton Branch
Facility from 4 to 8 with Phase 1
of the expansion. A new Tennis
Director, Bill Brahler, was hired
along with the expansion.
We created new and advanced
programs for juniors and adults
(Dynamic Tennis, 10 & under
Tennis, Junior Excellence, Adult
Xcelleration, Shot of the Day)
and eliminated the wait list by
creating new programs. Overall,
tennis court usage increased
9.6% from 2010.
Private lessons doubled to 1,490
in 2011.
CAMP STARhITCh
The summer day camp is for
children who have completed
kindergarten to those entering
fifth grade. We served over 100
youths per week, and around 900
for the 9 weeks of summer.

Annual Scholarship Campaign
The Saratoga Regional
yMCA held its 2011 Annual
Campaign Kickoff, “Premiere
Cocktail Party Fundraiser”, on
January 29, at the Saratoga
Springs Branch.
it was only the second
time the y had held this
fundraising event at the
branch, but yet again, it was
a huge success with over 170
attendees.
The “Hollywood Premiere”
theme incorporated a ‘step
and repeat’, a red carpet
walkway with ‘paparazzi’
style photography, and a
photobooth. The music
for the evening was lively
entertainment courtesy of
The Blackouts. Attendees
enjoyed complimentary hors
d’oeuvres donated by Circus
Cafe/Sperrys, Longfellow’s,
The Meathouse, Panera Bread
and the Prime at Saratoga
National; beer and wine
donated by Saratoga Eagle
Sales and Services, and
Saratoga Winery and Tasting
Room.
And that’s not all! A silent
auction was held throughout
the evening. There were over
50 items to bid on, as well as
a 50/50 raffle.
Over $15,000 was raised
from the Premiere Cocktail
Party, silent auction and
raffle. The proceeds went
towards the Saratoga
Regional yMCA’s Annual
Scholarship Campaign,
We Build People. We Build
People makes the yMCA
experience possible for all,
regardless of ability to pay.
This fund helps children,
individuals and families who
could not otherwise afford
memberships, programs
or services at the yMCA.
We Build People greatly
contributes in helping the
Saratoga Regional yMCA,
a non-profit organization,
to achieve its mission of
strengthening communities
through programs that
promote and encourage youth
development, healthy living
and social responsibility.
21 ST ANNUAL
GOLF CLASSIC
The Saratoga Regional yMCA’s
Annual Golf Classic was held on
Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at
the Saratoga National Golf Club.
Over 160 golfers participated
in the classic. There was also
amazing food, a silent auction
and raffle. This event raised
over $30,000 and was used to
supplement the yMCA Scholarship
Fund.
Our event sponsors included:

Honest.
hEALThY KIDS DAY
The Saratoga Regional yMCA
held another successful
Healthy Kids Day on April
16, 2011, with over 300
people participating in the
day’s events. Kids enjoyed
games, face painting, our
bouncy bounce house,
obstacle course and slide,
rock wall, karate and bike
safety demonstrations, fire
department obstacle course,
healthy snacks and visited
our many vendors who joined
us to celebrate a healthy funfilled
day.
BOOK FAIR
The Annual Book Fair was
held at the Saratoga Springs
Branch on December 5-9,
2011 in the Cyber Cafe. The
book selections ranged from
beautiful picture books and
preschool beginning readers
to popular series books for
middle and high school kids.
The books were provided
by Scholastic and over
$1,000 was raised. Proceeds
benefitted the yMCA
Scholarship Fund.
6 Th ANNUAL
ChILI COOK OFF
AND CARNIVAL
The 6th Annual Chili Cook
Off and Carnival was held
on March 25, 2011, at the
Saratoga Springs Branch.
Activities at this event
included carnival games and
a Bouncy Bounce, plus a
number of pots of delicious
chili to taste.
The Chili Cook Off and
Carnival is hosted by the
B.A.S.E. (Before and After
School Enrichment) Program.
Over $1,000 was raised from
this event and all proceeds
went to the y’s Scholarship
Fund.

The Saratoga Regional yMCA
held their annual Spring and
Fall Zumbathons in 2011-
raising over $2,800 for the
We Build People Scholarship
Campaign. Participants joined
us at the Saratoga Springs

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The Saratoga Regional yMCA began construction on Phase 1
of our Wilton Branch Expansion Project on August 29, 2011.
The y had heard from the members and local community that
there wasn’t enough available court time. Resulting from this
demand, was the addition of 4 indoor air-conditioned tennis
courts with an extension to the existing building. This brings
the total of indoor tennis courts to 8, which has significantly
increased the availability of open court times. This addition
has also resulted in the expansion of the youth and adult
tennis programs. The tennis expansion project was completed
in early December and we are looking forward to starting
Phases 2 & 3.
