Y<strong>our</strong> annual gift to the WCSU Foundation helps fund<br />
programs like Building a Bridge to Improve Student<br />
Success, which brings together professors from <strong>Western</strong><br />
and teachers from Danbury and Bethel to improve college<br />
readiness among local school children. This summer<br />
WCSU graduate Shannon Ring, (center, above) introduced<br />
Bethel Middle School teacher Steve LaBounty and Rogers<br />
Park Middle School teacher Meghan Dannucci, to limnology<br />
sampling techniques on Candlewood Lake.<br />
<strong>Western</strong> faculty and students research issues like the<br />
spread of invasive species in Candlewood Lake and other<br />
waterways in <strong>Connecticut</strong>. Under the supervision of Dr.<br />
Mitch Wagener and Dr. Edwin Wong, both of the department<br />
of biological and environmental sciences, students<br />
test for the presence of water milfoil and for zebra mussels<br />
and experiment with different ways to stop them.<br />
Y<strong>our</strong> support will help <strong>Western</strong> science students<br />
continue their work to preserve precious natural<br />
and economic res<strong>our</strong>ces in the state.<br />
