Jews who arrived at Majdanek; 935 they were probably moved elsewhere<br />

later on. Only one Dutch name appears in the Totenmeldung (death<br />

record) series: Lewy Trompetter, born in Amsterdam on 27 April 1873<br />

and registered, at age 69 with the ID number 7593; he died on 1 st December<br />

1942. 936<br />

Besides the transports to the Lublin district, between 5 May and 28<br />

November 1942 a full 36 transports of western Jews (over 35,000 persons)<br />

were deported into the localities in the eastern territories mentioned<br />

previously, bypassing completely the three alleged extermination<br />

camps of Be��ec, Sobibór, and Treblinka. The 124 transports which<br />

went from Vienna to Minsk between 16 May and 28 November 1942<br />

followed the line Vienna-Lundenburg-Prerau, skirting Auschwitz to the<br />

west via Oppeln (Opole) and Tschenstochau (Czestochowa) towards<br />

Warsaw, with some of them going on to Wolskowysk-Minsk via<br />

Bia�ystok. To do that, they passed through Malkinia, some 4 km from<br />

the “extermination camp” at Treblinka. Some other transports proceeded<br />

via Siedlce-Czeremcha-Wolkowysk and thus came as close as<br />

80 km to Treblinka and 140 km to Sobibór.<br />

In the “train schedule order No. 40” of the German railway administration<br />

located at Minsk we can read: 937<br />

“According to an announcement by RBD [Reichsbahndirektion,<br />

Imperial Rail Administration] Königsberg, there will be a weekly<br />

special train (Zugg [sic] 30,9) on Friday/Saturday with about 1,000<br />

persons from Vienna via Bialystok-Baranowitsche to Minsk Gbf<br />

[freight station] having the following schedule…”<br />

Schedule order No. 517 of RBD Vienna, dated 18 May 1942, mentions<br />

the following routing for the transports from Vienna to Minsk: 938<br />

“Wien Aspangbahnhof – Wien Nordbf – Lundenburg – Prerau –<br />

Olmütz – Groß Wisternitz – Jägerndorf – Neisse – Oppeln –<br />

Tschenstochau – Warschau West Gbf – Siedlce – Platerow – Czeremcha<br />

– Wolkowysk – Minsk.”<br />

Why would one want to make a detour of some 300 km around three<br />

“extermination camps” with trainloads of Jews destined to be killed?<br />
