Insignificant lmpacts<br />

a The power plant facilities will not have a negative environmental impact on<br />

the ecological system of the Caucasus biosphere reserve and will not<br />

disrupt its reservation regulations.<br />

lmpacts on surface and ground water, accounting for the mitigating<br />

measures to be taken, shall be insignificant.<br />

lmpacts on aquatic and terrestrial biota shall be insignificant.<br />

lmpacts caused by noise are not anticipated due to the noise mitigation<br />

measures to be taken.<br />

a The proposed routings of the transmission lines are far enough away from<br />

population centers such that EMF exposure will not exceed regulatory<br />

limits.<br />

As no known flight paths intersect proposed transmission line routings,<br />

there will be no impact on bird migration.<br />

a There will be no impact on general topography and land use in the area.<br />

a Disposal of silty wastes from the process water treatment plant is<br />

considered to be an insignificant positive impact on the local population due<br />

to the agricultural benefits of land application of the silty wastes.<br />

Minor lmpacts<br />

Concentrations of SO2 and NOx in the atmosphere due to power plant<br />

emissions will increase slightly but will have an insignificant impact on air<br />

quality. The expected concentration increase will be within permissible<br />

limits.<br />

The environmental impact assessment performed in accordance with Section 1.4<br />

of the existing Russian Regulations for ElAs shows that the proposed <strong>Krasnodar</strong><br />

<strong>GRES</strong> project meets the environmental requirements of the legislation of the<br />

Russian Federation.<br />

1.4 <strong>Environmental</strong> Management Plan<br />

Kuban <strong>GRES</strong> will have a Health & Safety Department and a separate<br />

<strong>Environmental</strong> Department. The number of personnel will be based on the power<br />
