Noise range in the engine room falls within a wide frequency range of 100 to<br />

8000 Hz. During the normal mode of operation of equipment, noise is steady and<br />

of wide band.<br />

Maximum permissible noise levels at the work stations were defined by Sanitary<br />

Code 3223-85, and those within the compound by SC 3077-84 and<br />

corresponding GOST 12.1.003-89 and GOST 12.1.036-81.<br />

These standards limit the constant noise level at work stations to 80 dB.<br />

Maximum acoustic level Le max of non-constant noise (except pulse noise) at the<br />

work stations should not exceed 110 ~ BA. Maximum acoustic level of pulse noise<br />

is 125 ~ B (GOST A 12.1.003-89).<br />

Maximum level of non-constant noise within the compound should not exceed 60<br />

~BA; within the territory of hospitals 50 ~ B (SC A 3223-85).<br />

Figure 5.3 is indicative of marking and location of noise sources.<br />

A group of air intake chambers. Noise is generated by CT compressor and by<br />

release of excessive air through fire safety valves into suction channel. Acoustic<br />

intensity of one chamber is Ld = 145 ~ B (see A Diagram 1 and Table 3). All noise<br />

sources may work simultaneously. Total acoustic intensity of the group is - Ld<br />

= I 54 ~BA.<br />

The plant layout plan indicatives the location of the above reference points.<br />

Reference point 001 is located on the industrial site 50 m from the group of air<br />

intake chambers.<br />
