Hope you're all well. Your class<br />

correspondent, while visiting at<br />

the famous Cloister Hotel on<br />

Sea Island, GA, overheard the<br />

hotel's general manager, Edward<br />

T. "Ted" Wright '58, and<br />

wife Rachel (Laidly) '58 talking about <strong>Cornell</strong><br />

and got the Sea Island photographer to<br />

take a photo of us. Unfortunately, it could<br />

not be reproduced here. The Cloister is a<br />

wonderful vacation spot, where my family<br />

enjoyed beach, tennis, golf, spa, and great<br />

food. We were there last Christmas before<br />

going on to Renaissance Weekend at Hilton<br />

Head Island. In regular class news, Barry<br />

M. Shaw is an orthodontist in the Binghamton,<br />

NY area and lives with his wife and two<br />

daughters in Vestal. Barry reports a recently<br />

published article on the subject of restorative<br />

treatment of a formerly bulimic patient.<br />

copy. C. Ed Kemp is a veterinarian at the<br />

Vineyard Veterinary Clinic on Martha's<br />

Vineyard. Ed lives in Falmouth, MA. Carl<br />

Acebes is an investment counselor with<br />

Rochdale Investment Management in New<br />

York City. Mary Zahrt Adams is a compliance<br />

officer with the South Plains Community<br />

Action Assn. in Levelland, TX. Rich<br />

Ahlfeld lives in Mountainside, NJ. Linda<br />

Hamilton Archer is a demographer in<br />

Nairobi, Kenya.<br />

David Yesner is a professor of archeology<br />

at the U. of Alaska, Anchorage. Mary<br />

Rutherford Lovelock lives in Hartford, CT.<br />

Mary and her husband, W. Robert Chapman,<br />

have become vintage dancers, specializing<br />

in the Victorian and Ragtime eras. Last summer<br />

they spent a week at "dance camp" in<br />

Newport, RI, attending balls held at several<br />

mansions. Her other activities include volunteer<br />

work for her church and work for a<br />

non-profit agency that will be opening a lowincome<br />

housing residence. Ronald Ress,<br />

JD '68 is in the Naval Reserve Judge Advocate's<br />

Corps and has won a high award for<br />

outstanding achievement. Al Bensley lives<br />

in Honeoye Falls, NY and is a manager with<br />

Eastman Kodak in Rochester. AΓs job involves<br />

working with new technologies, and<br />

his hobbies include long-distance running.<br />

His daughter Wendy '97 is in Agriculture<br />

and Life Sciences. Monica Bernheim lives<br />

in NYC. Robert Cane is deputy sheriff in<br />

St. Augustine, FL, so watch your speed if<br />

you're in the area. Randall Bus lives in<br />

Wheaton, IL. Anne Gilfoil Borrusch is a<br />

wellness/health educator and lives in Northville,<br />

MI.<br />

Len Bisk lives in Israel with wife Miriam<br />

and family. Miriam was recently<br />

honored by the president of Israel for her<br />

volunteer activities in helping Russian immigrants.<br />

Neck, NY. Jim Deuel is manager of the<br />

Hyatt Arlington Hotel in Arlington, VA.<br />

Fred C. Fay manages three small chemical<br />

businesses in the York, PA area. Peter<br />

Entin lives in NYC. Lynne Buttner Fra-<br />

zier is vice president of human resources<br />

with Intracorp in Berwin, PA. Her daughter<br />

Kristen Blanchard '94 has been in Arts.<br />

Carol Rizzuto O'Brien has a fundraising<br />

consulting business in Ithaca.<br />

Neil Newman is in international sales<br />

with Stanford Telecomm in Sunnyvale, CA.<br />

Neil has a son who recently graduated from<br />

the U. of San Diego and another at the U. of<br />

Colorado. He has a busy year of travel, including<br />

visits in Hong Kong, China, Japan,<br />

Korea, Europe, etc. Mary Pasley is a paralegal<br />

specializing in immigration law in NYC.<br />

M. E. "Beth" Deabler Corwin and husband<br />

Rick live in Belmont, MA. Marc Rudofsky<br />

lives in Westfield, NJ. Cliff Orloff lives in<br />

Berkeley, CA and is someone Γd like to hear<br />

more from. Catherine Saul McNeill and<br />

husband Blair '66 live in Wayne, PA, and<br />

she works part time as an office manager.<br />

Neil Rivchin lives in Loudonville, NY. Janie<br />

Marshall Richards is a math teacher at<br />

DeWitt Middle School in Ithaca, where she<br />

and husband Melzar '67 live.<br />

Janet Fisher Anisfeld is a psychoanalyst<br />

in NYC. Ira Shepard was sorry to miss<br />

Reunion last year, but reports he was invited<br />

to participate in the Annapolis-Newport<br />

sailboat race over the same weekend. After<br />

four days of sometimes rough sailing, Ira's<br />

boat was the first 35-footer to cross the finish<br />

line. Ira is a lawyer in Washington, DC.<br />

Helen Schonbrun Schreiber lives in NYC<br />

with husband Bob '64. Helen is involved in<br />

marketing. Bill Schneider retired from<br />

work for a period to be the primary-care<br />

companion for his first child, Hannah, born<br />

in 1992. Bill and wife Laura had worked together<br />

at Paramount Publishing Education<br />

Group in NYC for a number of years. He<br />

describes the change and challenges of parenthood<br />

as "delightful" and he is apparently<br />

back at work now. Greg Fried is a doctor<br />

in Lake Success, NY. Jane Bennett Moore<br />

lives in Delaware.<br />

if you enjoy heat and humidity." After a twoyear<br />

stint in corporate planning, Gus is now<br />

running a joint refining venture with Petroleos<br />

Mexicanos. "I'm spending time on Wall<br />

Street financing the deal and trying to learn<br />

Spanish."<br />

Philip S. Callahan (Pasadena, CA) has<br />

been appointed deputy project scientist for<br />

a follow-up mission to the highly successful<br />

ocean-observing TOPEX/POSEIDON, now<br />

well into its second year of data collection.<br />

Robert Liburdy, a research scientist at the<br />

Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory at U. of California,<br />

Berkeley, has been "studying the<br />

interaction of 60-hertz magnetic fields with<br />

breast cancer cells. Environmental-level<br />

magnetic fields (from power lines and appliances)<br />

have been implicated in some forms<br />

of cancers. He and his physician wife, Nora<br />

L. Burgess, toured Japan for three weeks<br />

last year while Robert gave a series of lectures<br />

at various universities.<br />

Catherine Ogorzaly Lehrberg (Palo<br />

Alto, CA) spent last summer in France and<br />

England with husband Dick and family. He<br />

was working while she "mainly played with<br />

the children," ages 10 and 12, which included<br />

visits to castles, Roman ruins, picturesque<br />

villages, and the London theater. This<br />

summer's destination "after Reunion, of<br />

course" is likely to be the Dordogne.<br />

Marian Cohen Ramirez works for the<br />

U. of Michigan's family practice department<br />

training family practice residents in psychosocial<br />

assessment and interviewing skills.<br />

She also provides psychotherapy for patients<br />

at the department and in her own private<br />

practice in Ann Arbor. "It's a wonderful<br />

job—I feel very lucky." Marian lives near<br />

Evelyn Neuhaus and sees her often. Susan<br />

Scheer Germaine is teaching nursery<br />

school in Larchmont, NY. Husband Louis<br />

'68 is practicing radiology in Westchester.<br />

The Germaines have a daughter at Dartmouth<br />

and another graduating from New<br />

Rochelle High School.<br />

Dr. Earl Armstrong received his MD<br />

from the U. of Chicago in 1973, was at Johns<br />

Hopkins Hospital 1973-78, and subsequently<br />

became chief of the pulmonary division<br />

at Howard U. medical college. In 1988 he<br />

went into private practice. Earl and his physician<br />

wife, Patricia, have three children and<br />

their activities include serving as Boy and<br />

Girl Scout leaders.<br />

Michael A. Smith (Smithtown, NY),<br />

a financial analyst with Lehman Brothers,<br />

writes of children James, a budding architect<br />

who is looking for a college in ski country,<br />

and Dawn, who wants to be a veterinarian<br />

"like her 'old man' originally set out<br />

to do before he found Wall Street. She has<br />

taken to the horse-show game—the activity<br />

that has the highest cost-to-age ratio of<br />

any endeavor a child can be involved in!"<br />

Dr. John P. Mitchell, MD '73 practices<br />

ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology in<br />

Manhattan. "I still take a team of eye-care<br />

specialists to Haiti to teach eye residents<br />

in Port-au-Prince and give services to a remote<br />

part of Haiti called Lascahobas. Politics<br />

may preclude my travel in 1994." John<br />

lives in New Rochelle with wife Patricia and<br />

daughter Andrea.<br />

Film editor Lois Freeman writes she<br />

is currently working on a documentary video<br />

about the Santa Clara River, the last "unchannelized"<br />

river in southern California.<br />

Recent credits include And the Band Played<br />

On for HBO about the discovery of HIV,<br />

the virus that causes AIDS. Lois lives in<br />

Fillmore, CA with husband Stuart Fox,<br />

lutenist/guitarist. After living in southern<br />

California for 20 years, Stephen Pfeiffer<br />

and wife Phyllis (Kramer) '70 moved to<br />

the San Francisco area. Phylllis left the LA<br />

Times to become publisher of the Marin Independent<br />

Journal, and Stephen gave up a<br />

private psychology practice to join a management<br />

consulting firm in the city. The<br />

Pfeiffers and their children live in Tiburon.<br />
