1967 PSC Annual Report - Missouri Public Service Commission

Commissioner Marvin E. Jones was appointed to the Public
Service Commission by Governor Warren E. Hearnes on April 15,
1967. His term of office continues until 1973.
A former Dexter, Missouri,
attorney, Commissioner
Jones was born June 8,
1921 at Be r n ie, S tad dar d
County, Mo. He was graduated
from Bernie High School
in 1939 and attended Southeast
Missouri State College, Cape
Girardeau, prior to entering
the armed forces.
A World War II veteran,
Commissioner Jones served
as aerial navigator on B-17
Bombers with the 15th Air
Force. He was awarded the
Air Medal with four 0 a k leaf
clusters and the Purple Heart
with two oak leaf clusters for
his combat service in Italy.
He was discharged in 1945 with
the rank of First Lieutenant.
Commissioner Jones received
his LL. B. degree from
the University of Mis sou r i
School of Law in 1950andthen
enrolled in t hat university's
MARVIN E. JONES school of Business and Public
Commissioner Administration. He served as
Claims Attorney for MFA Insurance
Companies and was manager of the District Claims Office
at Dexter, supervising claim adjustments in the Southeastern Missouri
area fro m 1951 until 1958. In 1958 he entered private practice
of law at Dexter forming the Powell, Jones and Ringer law firm.
A past pre sid en t of the Stoddard County Bar Association,
Commissioner Jones was active in numerous civic affairs at Dexter.
He was a member of the Board of Deacons of the First Baptist Church
of Dexter and had served as its chairman. He is a Colonelan the
staff of Governor Hearnes.
He is presently serving as a member of the Executive Board
of the Midwest A ssociation of Railroad and Utilities Commissioners.
