Presently, the c<strong>on</strong>centrator situated at ICC, Jharkhand is closed because the mines in Jharkhand which were supplying ore to this plant are closed due to unec<strong>on</strong>omic operati<strong>on</strong>s. The producti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> copper c<strong>on</strong>centrates during 2000-01 to 2009-10 is given in Table: 3.4 and depicted in Figure-3.3. Subsequently, two producers <strong>of</strong> primary refined copper namely, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Birla <strong>Copper</strong>) at Dahej, Dist. Bharuch, Gujarat and Sterlite Industries at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, based <strong>on</strong> imported copper c<strong>on</strong>centrates came <strong>on</strong> the scene. Besides, Jhagadia <strong>Copper</strong> Ltd. (formerly SWIL Ltd.) had started a scrap based plant at Jhagadia, Bharuch, district Gujarat. HCL has also a plant <strong>of</strong> CCWR (C<strong>on</strong>tinuous Cast Wire Rods) which is based <strong>on</strong> copper cathodes at Taloja, Raigad district, Maharashtra. The plantwise installed capacities <strong>of</strong> copper producers are given in Table: 3.5 and depicted in Figure-3.4.
