Chapter 3 SIMEAS R in the laboratory As described in chapter 1, the SIMEAS R was used in the laboratory "Störungen und Schutz in elektrischen Anlagen" to show possibilities monitor power quality in power networks. The SIMEAS R was integrated into the power network model at the Institute for Electrical Power Systems and High Voltage Engineering, Department for Electrical Power Systems at Graz University of Technology. 3.1 SIMEAS R configuration For use of the SIMEAS R in the laboratory, the measuring device has to be prepared. There were many old disturbance recordings on the internal hard-disk. Asking the Siemens helpdesk how to clear this recordings the answer was that it is only possi- ble to clear old recordings after removing the PCMCIA hard-disk from SIMEAS R and building it in a PCMCIA slot of a notebook. All files on the hard-disk, except the fol- lowing should be deleted. It is important to let these files untouched, because SIMEAS R is out of function without them.
