Chapter 2 Power Quality Recorder Simeas-R 2.1 Overview The shortcut SIMEAS R means "SIemens MEASurement Recorder" The power quality recorder SIMEAS R is used for quality assurance in power stations, and extra-high, high-voltage and medium-voltage installations. SIMEAS R records power faults and power quality and monitors the secondary and primary technical facilities. It has an integrated digital fault recording system with an integrated fault recorder, power and frequency recorder, digital recorder and an event recorder system. The signals are sampling with a high sampling rate (256 times the base frequency with 64-fold oversampling) with a high degree of accuracy (measuring fault < 0,2 %), and a high resolution (16 bit). With its new transducer concept it is capable to record signals with DC components. For transfer an configuration it can be equipped with direct communication interfaces to an analog or digital telephone network, LAN or WAN using TCP/IP protocol or null modem. Through this communication possibilities it has the capability for remote diagnosis and full commissioning via modem or network. 3
2.2. FUNCTIONS 4 2.2 Functions 2.2.1 Fault recorder The analog and binary signals are continually monitored for limit violations. If a trigger occurs, all inputs are recorded in parallel with pre-fault, variable fault progression and post-fault data. The recorded data can be provided to the diagnostic system for determining the fault location. An intelligent progression control records the fault only for the duration of which it is present. The resolution is 16 bits. The sampling frequency is 256 times the fundamental (12,80kHz per input at 50Hz). Binary inputs are recorded with a sampling frequency of 2kHz. At the time of triggering, the real time (in ms) is recorded. The following triggers are implemented in the software for each input. For analog inputs: • Minimum trigger • Maximum trigger • Rate of change trigger (positive, negative) • Positive-sequence system trigger minimum or maximum • Negative-sequence system trigger minimum or maximum For binary inputs: • positive and negative slope • negative slope • positive slope • Logical combination of analog and binary trigger criteria Triggers are logically combined. For example triggers can be logically combined to distinguish a fault from intentional disconnection of a supply.
