Dr. Hamon felt God prompting him to lay hands on the<br />

graduates and prophesy the mind <strong>of</strong> the Lord. He took<br />

time to pray and prophesy over the 7 graduates in<br />

attendance. God truly blessed each one <strong>of</strong> us with His<br />

word. . . .<br />

The February Prophets Conference will focus on<br />

God’s prophetic ministry today. . . . We will . . . have<br />

times <strong>of</strong> instruction and activation. Each attendee will<br />

be taught about how to hear and discern God’s voice,<br />

how to relate what you are hearing to others, and how<br />

to receive and relate to personal prophecy from others.<br />

. . . In the afternoons, prophetic presbytery<br />

teams, groups <strong>of</strong> seasoned prophets, will be ministering<br />

to each registered attendee.<br />

Shepherding<br />

The Shepherding movement was an attempt to place<br />

everyone in a relationship <strong>of</strong> submission to a personal<br />

shepherd. It originated with the teaching <strong>of</strong> five men:<br />

Derek Prince, Don Basham, Charles Simpson, Bob<br />

Mumford, and Ern Baxter (<strong>of</strong> the Latter Rain). In an<br />

effort to bring greater accountability and discipleship to<br />

the Charismatic movement, these men proclaimed that<br />

every <strong>Christian</strong> should enter into a covenant relationship<br />

with a mentor.<br />

Unfortunately, many such shepherds became quite<br />

authoritative, controlling the major decisions <strong>of</strong> their disciples.<br />

Many excesses and abuses occurred, which<br />

resulted in the discrediting <strong>of</strong> the concept. The movement<br />

disbanded, and the leaders acknowledged their errors.<br />

Some renounced the doctrine altogether, while others<br />
