You Can Have What You Say. This teaching minimizes<br />

or ignores basic <strong>Christian</strong> principles such as seeking the<br />

will <strong>of</strong> God, humility, moderation, self-denial, putting the<br />

kingdom <strong>of</strong> God above personal desires, and trusting in<br />

God’s plan and power instead <strong>of</strong> our own.<br />

Presentations <strong>of</strong> the Positive Confession doctrine<br />

abound with theologically aberrant concepts such as the<br />

divinity <strong>of</strong> man, the inherent power <strong>of</strong> the tongue, and the<br />

formulaic nature <strong>of</strong> faith declarations. Here are some<br />

quotations that illustrate the problems: 308<br />

• Kenneth Copeland: “You don’t have a god in you.<br />

You are one.”<br />

• Casey Treat: “I’m an exact duplicate <strong>of</strong> God. . . .<br />

When God looks in the mirror, He sees me! When I<br />

look in the mirror, I see God! . . . You know, sometimes<br />

people say to me . . .‘You just think you’re a<br />

little god!’ Thank you! Hallelujah! You got that right!<br />

‘Who d’you think you are, Jesus?’ Yep!”<br />

• Kenneth Hagin: “Every born again man is an incarnation.<br />

. . . The believer is as much an incarnation<br />

as Jesus <strong>of</strong> Nazareth. . . . That’s who we are; we’re<br />

Christ!”<br />

• Earl Paulk: “Just as dogs have puppies and cats<br />

have kittens, so God has little gods. . . . Until we<br />

comprehend that we are little gods and we begin to<br />

act like little gods, we cannot manifest the kingdom<br />

<strong>of</strong> God.”<br />

• Robert Tilton: “He’s given us power to create<br />

wealth.”<br />

• Kenneth Hagin: “Having faith in your word is<br />
