A <strong>History</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>Doctrine</strong><br />

When it became common in society for women to cut<br />

their hair and wear pants, many Fundamentalist were initially<br />

opposed to these practices, but most eventually<br />

accepted them. Some <strong>of</strong> them, notably independent<br />

Baptists, maintained their opposition, however.<br />

Prominent examples were independent Baptists John R.<br />

Rice and Jack Hyles.<br />

We clearly see Fundamentalism’s major doctrinal<br />

themes and separatist stance in the ACCC’s <strong>of</strong>ficial characterization<br />

<strong>of</strong> itself: 231<br />

Among the fundamental doctrines <strong>of</strong> the Faith are:<br />

the inspiration and inerrancy <strong>of</strong> Scripture; the deity <strong>of</strong><br />

Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, substitutionary blood<br />

atonement, His literal bodily resurrection and His<br />

Second Coming “in power and great glory.” We as<br />

Fundamentalists also affirm that the Bible teaches<br />

separation from unbelievers and erring brethren. . . .<br />

We need to stand together to expose Liberalism,<br />

New Evangelicalism, the Charismatic movement, and<br />

compromise in all areas <strong>of</strong> life and ministry. . . .<br />

No church or individual can be a part <strong>of</strong> the ACCC<br />

and at the same time be connected in any way with<br />

the National Council <strong>of</strong> Churches (NCC) with its liberal<br />

theology, ecumenical apostasy, and leftist sociopolitical<br />

agenda. Neither can one be a part <strong>of</strong> the<br />

ACCC and be associated with the National Association<br />

<strong>of</strong> Evangelicals (NAE), which is noted for its compromise,<br />

confusion and inclusion <strong>of</strong> Charismatics.<br />

The ACCC has adopted the following doctrinal statement:<br />
