The <strong>Doctrine</strong> <strong>of</strong> Salvation<br />

One <strong>of</strong> the distinctive positions <strong>of</strong> Oneness<br />

Pentecostals is that God’s standard <strong>of</strong> full salvation for the<br />

New Testament church is repentance, water baptism in the<br />

name <strong>of</strong> Jesus Christ, and the baptism <strong>of</strong> the Holy Spirit<br />

with the initial sign <strong>of</strong> speaking in tongues. The major<br />

Oneness groups hold that this experience is “the new<br />

birth,” although there is some debate on this issue. While<br />
