<strong>MAC</strong>-<strong>HRD</strong> <strong>Newsletter</strong><br />

Notify <strong>MAC</strong>'s IT department when you're experiencing<br />

network problems, equipment trouble and other technical<br />

issues by logging in to the helpdesk software.<br />

You can follow the simple steps below to place the<br />

link on your desktop for easy access:<br />

1. Go to your G:\ Drive<br />

2. Click on the <strong>MAC</strong> IT Helpdesk folder<br />

3. Right Click on the <strong>MAC</strong> IT Helpdesk shortcut<br />

4. Click on “Send To…”<br />

5. Click on Desktop<br />

You can also find a link on the My<strong>MAC</strong> Staff Tab<br />

under Employee Resources.<br />

FAFSA Frenzy<br />

<strong>Mineral</strong> <strong>Area</strong> <strong>College</strong> will be hosting a FAFSA<br />

Frenzy Event on Sunday, February 12th, from 2-4<br />

pm in the Technology Center. In case of inclement<br />

weather, listen for announcements on the radio and<br />

through <strong>MAC</strong> Text Alert. The make-up date of the<br />

event will be on Sunday, February 19th at the same<br />

time and location.<br />

Promote Your Event<br />

Pam Watkins, <strong>MAC</strong>'s Continuing Education Director,<br />

sends out a newsletter that reaches 600 people.<br />

The newsletter features community events. If you<br />

would like a future event on campus or in the community<br />

included, please let her know a week before<br />

the end of the month. You can e-mail pdwatkin@<br />

<strong>Mineral</strong><strong>Area</strong>.edu or call her at ext 2342.<br />

HAZWOPER and Soil<br />

Remediation training, a new online nursing program<br />

and exciting opportunities in Pharmacy and Industrial<br />

Maintenance through MO HealthWins. <strong>MAC</strong>'s Grant<br />

Writer, Pam Watkins has been instrumental in working<br />

with other <strong>MAC</strong> employees, researching and writing<br />

grants to help make these programs possible on<br />

our campus. In addition she's running a Continuing<br />

Education program that provides classes in everything<br />

from sewing to salsa, cupcakes to computers! Thanks<br />

Pam for helping <strong>MAC</strong> succeed in our mission to serve<br />

our community and provide opportunities.<br />

Congratulations to Sandy Price who was married to<br />

Danny Lefever on January 17 in Chattanooga,<br />

Tennessee!<br />

Alivia Jean Wilfong was born January 6,<br />

weighed 5 lbs. 1oz, and was 17.5 inches long.<br />

Pell Grant Changes<br />

Federal budget cuts have impacted the total dollars<br />

available for Pell Grants each fiscal year.<br />

Effective with the current award year (2011-2012)<br />

students who received a Pell Grant for full-time attendance<br />

for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 Semesters<br />

WILL NOT be eligible for a Pell Grant during the<br />

Summer 2012 Semester as they have been during the<br />

past two years. Students who receive a Pell Grant<br />

for less than full-time attendance for Fall 2011 and/<br />

or Spring 2012 Semesters MAY be eligible for a Pell<br />

Grant during the Summer 2012 Semester.<br />

Applications for Summer Pell Grants are available<br />

via My<strong>MAC</strong>.<br />

Your input is important as we compile data used in<br />

decision making and needed for our AQIP accreditation<br />

process. Please complete your Campus Quality<br />

Survey (distributed on Feb 6 and 7) and drop it off to<br />

the front desk in Student Services. We must submit the<br />
